When you have people like that teach you these sorts of things, it makes you want to write down every word they are saying. I mean, it isn't until you take up your residency when you get to see surgeries up close, but learning beforehand is so great.

yea, I know though I just didnt know why he was looking at lib arts college if he was planning to be a doctor. because people only goto lib art colleges because they dont know what they want to do with their lives in the future. so it gives them a well rounded education.
3.85 GPA
(Projected) ACT of 33 and (projected) SAT of 1800.
The SAT is a bit low but I think it;s because I took my PSAT a year early.

well youre good already. to get to wustl, I live in st louis and I had a full ride there, great school in my opinion. but if you want to goto medical school, (only look at 2 things MCATS, and GPA in college, nothing else) Id goto a lower tier college like SLU or something because it would be so much easier to get into a better medical program because you'll be the First in your class.

Smoked weed with him once. Good luck though, if not you could always go to OSU they have a sweet med school.

I smoke every day. cheers.

hopkins my first choice, then Harvard/wustl , then vanderbilt. and slu as back up. for med school
Cause cells are cool.

cool story bro

Ivy League *applause* very nice.

love it
Eh, public schools usually check extra-curricular a lot. I'm sure you'll be good.

no, its more competitive since there is ranking usually in public schools, I went to a private school so none of that bs.

Eh; I doubt I'll go to med school. Rather do humanitarian stuff, something God-related, psych, or some other social job. That's why I'm thinking liberal arts and I was planning WUSTL for undergrad. But it's freaking sweet; I got accept to a summer program and s scholarship but it's still 4 thousand...sad day.

I will be attending Colby college, which is in Maine. It's allright, kind of small though. I tell people I'm going pre-med, but honestly, I really have no idea. By far, my best field is math, but I don't enjoy math. Well, I enjoy math, but I don't enjoy applied math. I only like doing theorectical problems. Physics is always an option, but I don't really want that to be my career.

So for my freshman year I'm just going to try to feel things out and see what happens.

Oh and 2200 SAT and ~4.2 GPA (weighted, obviously). Because I'm awesome.

but wustl isnt liberal arts? I mean they have certain liberal arts aspects, but it isnt entirely focused on liberal arts. rather their biomedical programs.

Surgery. Of some kind. Idk yet. I don't wanna be some clinical doctor that just sits down and prescribes medicine; I wanna be the guy doing the action that properly helps people.

Oh, so you're going to be one of the guys who don't pay any attention to evidence-based practice and write half-assed pain management regimens? >

/physician mode. I have nearly six years and an entire degree on you, so don't get me started!

But seriously, each branch has its advantages (and disadvantages). Start with medicine, because more often than not, either something opportune or inopportune will happen to you that steers you towards whichever field you end up in. Also more often than not, you'll find it's largely a matter of culture. Surgery is (almost invariably) a blokey boys' club. And yes, it's true, physicians do all the talking, but not nearly as much as psychiatrists.

Bottom line: you'll still be helping people either way, and if you're good at what you do, you won't need the patient to tell you either, though some will regardless of which field you're in.

If I decide to go into the medical field then I'm going to WUSTL if I don't I'm going liberal arts. Sorry for the confusion and mass hysteria.

I am going to High School next year so I don't really know where I will be going yet. I am planning to go into programming and/or Biochemistry and/or nanotechnology or other (science and math fields not sure completely what yet except for programming)
So what I see is MIT or CalTech or some sort of college that deals with science...

Really? A 4.2 GPA? Tell me, if all A's give you a 4.0, how the hell do you get a 4.2?

I have a 3.8 and a 1400 SAT score. I gotta do better on the latter, but I'll get to that the next time I can test.

Oh, so you're going to be one of the guys who don't pay any attention to evidence-based practice and write half-assed pain management regimens? >

uhhh...I'm going to be the guy that performs internal operations so that people don't have to take medicine that doesn't work in the first place

Weighted means AP classes count as 5.0. I took 8 of those, and 15 "normal" classes. It might actually be a 4.3 by now, but I haven't got grades back. It's just how my school decided to rank people, because unweighted would result in like a 5 way tie for valedictorian. We ended up having two valedictorians with 4.5 GPAs, but neither of them has a 4.0 unweighted.

Unweighted, probably a 3.8 - 3.9. I only got two semesters of Bs.

1400 SAT score. I gotta do better on the latter,

You could always try the ACT, some people tend to do better on it. Thing is, some colleges want all of your test scores. So even if you get a 2300 next time, they will still see your 1400. But if you get a good ACT score first try, you can just pretend like the SAT never happened.

What is that, 3 A's and 2 B's? I'm prolly off. I need to end my high school with at least one exceptional honor roll. 3.8 didn't cut it; it takes a 3.85 to get one which is retarded for me. Sooooo 4 A's and 1 B+ should hit it.
