Should we still keep it? Is it applicable to life the in the 21st century? Would it affect the economy if we make arms illegal?

Under a second. Pulling the trigger is the fastest part. The slow part is aiming (which still takes under five seconds for anyone who's ever shot a gun

Five seconds? Are you people crazy? Whenever my dad takes me out shooting, that bastard is screaming in my ear to get my shots off as quick as I can, because the other guy won't bother with the niceties of aiming properly.

The only time I catch a break is when he makes me run our target trail alone, and when I'm sighting my rifle -_-.

Jesus. So many trigger happy Conservatives. These are the last types of people I would expect on the internet. Why am I attracted to sites whose communities have conservative views?

There are more liberals on here than conservatives.

And I'm libertarian.

Anyhow, we're not trigger happy. We just like shooting stuff. Targets, not people. Although the occasional deer is fine too.

Moderate Libertarian. I doubt some hardcore Libertarians would approve of the right to bear arms. Besides, Libertarians are like Democrats but they feel more strongly about their "radical" ideals.

But, I cannot tell you what you should believe in.

I'm not a hardliner. That's just what I classify myself as, considering I hate most of the liberals and conservatives on the hill.

I'm not sure what exactly I am.

But, I cannot tell you what you should believe in.

No one can tell what anyone SHOULD believe in. Everyone has their own opinion, and no one is truly right. There are ups and downs to everything, and most of the time it's based on a lesser of two evils idea.

Which is actually somewhat relevant to the thread.

Prohibition was also in the Constitution. Doesn't mean it's good.

A lot of other countries seem to do just fine without everyone carrying a gun. Sure, the more people that have guns, the more people that can defend themselves unless a guy that actually wants to use it to hurt you. But the less guns you have in the first place, the less people there will be to hurt you with one. I don't really have an opinion here, US can do what it wants. I just don't really see the point.

Hell yeah I want the right to bear arms. I plan on purchasing a gun when I am old enough, I'm not buying it for security reasons(at least thar's not the main reason.) I want one for fun you know just firing a couple rounds at the range or something.

American culture involves too much violence. At least, with the youth. So many trigger happy morons get themselves shot.

Criminals will still find a way to get guns whether the U.S. outlaws them or not. I don't think it's fair to punish and restrict those who have weapons for hunting, self-defense,etc.
I am proud to be an NRA youth member. I have a 30-06 Springfield that I use for hunting hogs, javelinas and deer in West Texas and I can't even begin to see the point of taking it away.

What the heck are you talking about?! I'm willing to bet most kids who accidentally shoot themselves are those who's parents never talked about guns to them or taught them about guns.

The people who kill themselves using fire arms is reason to focus on teenage depression, not outlawing guns. We might as well make medication illegal as well.

I think it has much more to do with the culture of the nation than the gun control.

In Switzerland, most males are expected to join the military, and they keep their issued automatic rifles at home. So most men in Switzerland have guns or at least gun training. But their murder rate is lower than both the US and UK.

My main problem with US gun control measures is they just make it harder for people legally buying guns. Only one fifth of crimes involving guns involve one which was legally bought.

We need to crack down on the black market instead.

I believe Switzerland is a nuetralist nation.... Why would they need a military? They have everybody's money x]

The right to bear arms is the right to defend oneself rom those who abuse their freedom.
