What would happen if there was a capital of the world?

Where would it be?

Why?

Talk about it here!

All roads lead to Rome, hence the capital should be Rome.

There is no center of a sphere, unless you are talking about the core of the earth, which is impossible.

New York City. Headquarters of the UN.

Biggest bunch of pussies ever to be given power. But they still have power.

Need I say more?

The South Pole. It has decent natural defense as well as being empty, giving it unlimited room for development. That is were my headquarters will be when I take over the world!

China. It's the most populous country in the world, and nobody messes with it. It has an army of 800,000,000 people! That's almost three times the size of the entire United States!

So there are only 300 million people who are not soldiers compared to 800 million?

I think it might be somehwere like swizterland or some other tiny nation. only reason would be because if it was put in other countries some would get mad. ex. if put in US Us haters protest put in china those who fear comminism would raise a fuss. I doubt the nations of the world would work toegether enough to make a world capital some would only be out for themselves.

Somewhere not owned by any one country. Maybe the Arctic? Not Antarctica, because of the hole in the ozone layer. Or maybe we could use a rather large island somewhere.

Berlin. Germany is rich and its smack dab in the middle of Europe which is connected to Africa and Asia making it easily accesible for them and the Americas are just as close to it as it is anywhere else on the other 5 continents.

Vatican City. Not for its religious ties, simply because it's in a small, central area. Not necessarily culturally devoid either :P

My vote is for Lichtenstein. Small, neutral, centrally located in Western Europe. Seems like a good place, and a nation like that has no enemies as is so there would be no overt animosity toward putting a world capitol there. However for a world capitol to be a prudent or even successful occurrence we first need to reduce nationalism, expand democracy and freedoms to all corners of the globe and eliminate zealotry.

New York; as Orion noted it's the location of the UN and is considered to be the economic capital of the world. As we all know money is all that matters making New York the logical choice.

As we all know money is all that matters

And this a large portion of what is inherently wrong with our global situation today. By advancing our economy to the point that trade on a small scale level is unnecessary we have eliminated the financial obligation of people to their neighbors, which increases the social separation and removes the notion of responsibility of man to his fellows.

Money is not all that matters, nor should it be, however your statement says a lot about how society has removed social responsibility and replaced it with fiscal greed.
