Well I guess the title says it all, I was just wondering who ya'll thought were the most active 'forumers' in this part of the AG forum. Opinions, that what this Forum is going to be, pure opinions, and yes you can say 'Me'.

But it's been ages since I last checked back.
I never understood that whole "friend zone" concept. Why is it potential partners can't be your friend? O.o
Seems like it's "I couldn't possibly date you since you're such a good friend".
Friend zone is layman's terms. :P Or slang. I'd suggest looking it up on UrbanDictionary.com, but beware that there may be harsh language and sexually explicit posts.
Actually, it is more of a "You are in the friend zone and haven't moved on to the partner zone". I think the next zone does include friends too, like the outer zone... "I know you zone" would be included in the friend zone automatically.
A bit like... intimate sphere when it comes to personal space.

Often it's expressed the other way around, that potential partners (by which one means sexual partners) shouldn't be too close a friend, otherwise the "window of opportunity" passes and you become "zoned". Why? The original theory went something like when you're too familiar with somebody without having had sexual relations, the notion of sexual relations becomes awkward. I would actually say this applies to quite a few of my close friends, which serves as a counter-example to the other generalisation: "guys and girls can't just be friends."
Biggest exception to this rule I know is on Seinfeld, lol. "You know, we get along so well that I think the only reason we haven't fooled around yet is because we've never had that awkward pause in the conversation." *awkward pause ensues*
I find many social labels and generalizations/stereotypes irritating.

I still don't really get how the zone thing works. I mean, I can read what you and others are saying about it and understand it. I just don't get it. >_>;

I didn't understand the exception or the "window of opportunity" part.

Being in the friend zone is quite comfortable. At least until you meet that certain someone then it feels a bit awkward.

I just don't get it. >_>;
And the beauty of it is that you don't have to.
For me, "zoning" is somewhat necessary because I have to balance professional considerations along with everything else. It's very awkward for one's work life if you're good friends with a colleague and then all of a sudden you horrendously disrupt the status quo by sleeping with them. With non-colleagues and people who won't interact with my colleagues and therefore not potentially spread rumours about my sex life to colleagues... not such a big issue!
Of course it doesn't have to be this way, you could just do whatever you want however you want :P
