This is a bit of a forum game, but at the same time it has the capacity to result in a bit of poetry, so it goes here. I'm going to supply a line of poetry, and the following poster is to create a poem using the line I gave as their first. Along with their poem, they supply a line for the next person to write poetry on. No restrictions on the type of line or poetry; just keep the line open ended.
An eye for and eye makes the whole world blind, A tongue for a tongue makes us speechless. A arm for an arm makes us reach-less, A Head for a head makes us mindless.
Every part of us creates us, Every lost one destroys us. Everything lost is irreplaceable, Every little part adds up.
I stood for a moment, watching them all marching single file down the corridor; the death row inmates forced to walk to death by electric chair.
I stood for a moment watching them all realizing this same fate awaits myself from behind these bars I look on, fearing the day that it would be my turn.
Forget about your silly whim, Leave your thoughts behind, Seek for what I desire, The wonder's that we'll find.
Sorry I couldn't do anything longer, just thought I'd throw something out there.. might have forced it to rhyme a little as well. Definitely not the best thing I've ever wrote.
Trapped within your mind are the thoughts you harbor. These things they let you bind as you struggle with your labor. Let the freedom hold you fast, may you remember your vows. When you forget this at last return with many humble bows.
Therefore, the great wind blows. Why is that, you wonder? Let me tell you how my story goes, And you'll no longer ponder.
I stepped outside, with joy in my heart, A smile on my face, and on my head a hat, The day was off to a wonderful start, And I thought it would be just that.
And then, out of nowhere, came a powerful wind, And it knocked my hat right off my head, I tried to chase it but I fell behind, And it disappeared from my sight instead.
Where my hat went, nobody knows, And, my friend, therefore the great wind blows.
