Okay, so here's the arpeg. What do you think?
Battlefront 1861

Battlefront: The military sector in which actual combat takes place.
The American Civil War began on April 12, 1861 when the Confederate assault on Fort Sumter brought tensions between the northern states of the USA and the southern states of the USA to a boil, finally kicking off the bloodiest conflict in United States history, and in only four years had claimed the lives of anywhere between 618,000 to 700,000 Americans. Now, it is your turn to enter the war. You must fight for the Confederates or the Union, and turn the tide of the War Between the States.

Name: First and last name, please. Middle name optional. Do not include rank.
Age: 14-60. Neither army was very picky about who they allowed to enlist. They needed everyone they could get.
Side: Confederate or Union.
Home State: Not required. Connected to "side".
Rank: Private, unless your class is Officer, in which case you start off as a Lieutenant.
Health: 50/50
Class: Look below to see the classes.
Skill: See "Classes"
Perk: You can have one perk. Check below, in Perks.
Weapon: See "Classes".
Clothing: Confederate Uniform or Union Uniform, according to your side, Haversack(kind of like a backpack, it's what you carry your stuff in).
Other Equipment: Bedroll, Canteen, Rations[1 week]. For the rest, see Classes.
Allies/Troops: See Classes.

Classes(all the classes are the same for either side).
Cavalryman: The horse-riding branch of the military. Used as reconnaissance, or to harrass the enemy slowly but surely, so that they will either slow down or stop. Starts out with a Trained Horse, a Pistol[2/2], and a Saber. Skill is "Horsemanship", the ability to train a horse for battle, and skillfully ride it.
Officer: The high-ranking commanders of the battlefield. Used as an in-combat commander, the Officer not only commands troops, but can take out enemies of their own. Starts out with a Saber, a Pistol[2/2], and 10 Troops. Skill is "Command", to control troops on the same side as you to do what you tell them to.
Infantryman: The on-foot backbone of the war. Used for nearly everything, from defense to offense to drawn-out battles. Starts out with a Musket[5/5], and a Bayonet. Skill is "Sharpshooter", the ability to reload your weapon faster and aim more accurately.
Artilleryman: The "big guns" of the war. The artillerymen must work as a seamless team, because it takes five or so people to operate a cannon, but when it works, it can take out nearly anything. Used for offense or defense. Starts out with a Cannon, a Snake(sharp, swordlike tool that they use to load the cannon, but can also be used as a makeshift weapon), Flint and Tinder, 5 allies, and a Knife. Skill is "Heavy Artillery", which is the ability to load and fire cannons and mortars accurately and more quickly than untrained people trying to operate them.
Other: You can create your own class, HOWEVER, it must be approved by me. Please attempt to make it historically accurate and do not make it overpowered.

Perks: A perk is a little something extra. You can gain perks throughout the game by doing amazing feats, but most of you are going to end up with only the perk you pick at the beginning, so choose wisely! Your perk(s) are what set you apart from other soldiers just like you.
Sharp: Players with the "Sharp" perk are more skilled with a sword, and can wield it much more efficiently than soldiers without the perk.
Resiliency: Players with the "Resiliency" perk are not only more resistant to disease, but if they do get it, it does less damage and goes away quicker. Plus, they can go longer without food, water, and sleep without feeling the effects.
Squeaky Clean: Players with the "Squeaky Clean" perk automatically take much better care of all their weapons, meaning they're less likely to malfunction(and blow up in your face).
Locked and Loaded: Players with the "Locked and Loaded" perk are better with small arms like pistols, meaning they're more accurate with a pistol and fire faster.
Other: As with classes, you can make your own perk, but also as with classes, it must be accurate, not overpowered, and must be approved by me.

Also: I know that in the Civil War, disease actually killed many more people than bullets. However, just to make this interesting, you can and must find some way to make sure that your character doesn't get sick(they will, just not with a fatal disease, as long as you take precautions. If you have Resiliency, chances are you won't even get a minor disease). So, read up, and find out how you can save your character's life with some common sense!

Moderators: This game will start out with one moderator, Piester22, who helped me create this RPG by supplying accurate historical information. He can play the game, but can also respond to other players' scenarios(of course, Pie, you should be fair or you won't be a mod for long) and will also be giving you a dossier before each battle. As the game goes on, I may or may not add more moderators.

Any questions, comments, suggestions, or anything, feel free to post!

Good luck on the Battlefront!

As soon as I see the Yanks I crouch and look down the barrel of my Musket, looking for a good target and whispering a silent prayer. I smile as I find a Yank within range and fire; as he drops I stand and begin reloading my musket.

Battle of Fort Sumter
I aimed my rifle at the approaching Yankee soldier. Oblivious to the gun pointing at his chest, he kept walking. I shut one eye to aim as instructed, then pulled the trigger on my rifle.
BOOM!
There was an explosion, a bright light, a noise...my ears were ringing, but other than that I could hear and see nothing. I was temporarily blind and deaf. There had been some kind of explosion, I knew. Surely, the Yanks must be all dead. I simply lay on the ground for a minute or two. Utnil with an extreme effort of will, I sat up.It was only now that I felt the pain. Shock, numbness, something must have prevented me from feeling it until now, but now I felt the agony in waves. My whole body stung and burned and hurt and I could've cried. I was shaking, but I forced myself to stand. Slowly but surely, my vision was returning. Everything was dark and blurry, but I blinked a few times and slowly my eyesight returned to normal. I still could hear nothing but buzzing in my ears. Wincing, I examined myself, to see how I was injured. Apparently, my rifle must have blown up in my hands, because I could see shards of it, sticking out of my arms. I had been badly burned as the explosion lit the gunpowder in the rifle and it blew. I was badly injured, but nothing was broken, and I could still move. Walking? Forget it, but I could limp. Shooting? Both of my hands were badly burned and peppered with shards of my rifle, they wouldn't be doing much until I at least removed the shards. Everything that wasn't purplish with burns was bleeding, even my ears, which explains the buzzing sound. I groaned. Picking up a rifle out of the mud, not cleaning it properly, leaving mud or blood or whatever still jammed in the chamber...well, that certainly hadn't been my brightest idea. As my vision finally returned in full(I had been blinded by the brightness of the explosion), I took note of my surroundings. The Yankee who had approached me was lying on the floor, dead as a doornail, but the other Yankees, including the officer, were gone. Apparently they had assumed I was dead and left. I had no idea how long I had been out, but I was assuming that the battle was still on. That meant that I was still in danger, and I still had to destroy Fort Sumter.

I sent up a silent prayer to God, Buddha, Krishna, or whoever would listen as I aim, looking down the barrel of my musket. As the Yanks make their approach, I smile and focus in on a youthful Yankee infantryman as he approaches. I frown. He actually looks kind of like me, just a few years younger. I knew that it shouldn't bother me; hesitation to fire is the kind of thing that will get you killed, they drilled that into our heads in training, but I was struggling to pull the trigger. Finally, with a feat of willpower, I pulled the trigger. The Yankee fell to the ground with a grim finality, his musket falling from his limp hands. I stand and reload my rifle, but a barrage of Yankee fire convinces me to duck behind cover again and reload there. Dirt showers on my head from the Yankee and Confederate artillery fire rains down on each army. Luckily, I am not hit, but I see some of my fellow soldiers fall. My weapon now reloaded in a matter of seconds thanks to my musket-specialty traning, I lean out of cover and fire a wild shot at a Yankee artillery team who's giving my comrades some trouble. I keep my head poking out of cover just long enough to see my shot connect to an artilleryman's shoulder before I go back into cover. He curses and falls to the ground. I didn't kill him, but I did injure him so that he can't do his job. That's good enough for me. *end of page*

I reload once more, lay down and move out of cover to take a shot at another artillery team

Battle of Fort Sumter
I limped into the nearest piece of cover, and surveyed my surroundings. I was looking for any kind of medical kit, or gunpowder, but there was nothing nearby but blood. Coughing, I limped around the hallway just to be sure. There was nothing. As my hearing slowly began to return, I could hear the faint sound of gunfire, cannonfire, screams. So the battle was still on. The sounds would probably be deafening, but my hearing was impaired at the moment, so it was less like a roar and more like a faint whisper. I had no idea how to navigate this place, and I had no idea where to get equipment or medical attention short of leaving the base outright. Suddenly, I heard a noise. It was closer. The noisy scrape of bayonet against stone, not unlike the sound of nails against a chalkboard, abrased my ears. Someone was approaching. They had been injured, by the sound of things, or were exhausted. I knew because their bayonet was dragging against the ground. I drew my pistol warily, and waited for the sound. *end of page*

I reloaded my musket again then laid down in the prone position and moved out of my cover to fire off a shot at another artillery team. I missed the team entirely, instead hitting their cannon, which absorbed the musketball like it was nothing. Cursing, I stood to reload again in a momentary lapse of judgement. Almost immediately, I felt a burning pain in my calf. Those damn Yanks had shot me! I limped back into cover, spouting curses. I reloaded, this time without getting shot, and took a moment to peer at the Yankees' advance. They were slowly but surely advancing on our position, with bodies from either side scattered haphazardly around the battlefield. Instinctively putting a hand on my wound, it came away bloody, but it wasn't too bad. I could still limp around with comparative ease. But my gunshot wound wasn't my most urgent problem at the moment, as the Yankees advanced on my position. *end of page*

I look at my bloody hand and cursed again; quickly i tear away a strip of linen from my shirt and wrap it around the wound, slowly and wincing i stand and began backing away from cover, staying out of the Yanks line of sight and back to my reinforcements.

Favoring my right side heavily, I limped awkwardly into the nearest pile of boxes and crates with some difficulty, and watched to see who walked by. To my surprise, it wasn't just a Yankee; it was the Yankee I had seen earlier, the one who had been approaching me. Apparently, just as the explosion hadn't killed me, it hadn't killed him either. He was leaning heavily on his bayonet on his left side, which was badly burned and cut. With his right hand, he was patting the walls around him.
"Help me!" he called, in a cracked voice. "Anybody?" As he came closer, I saw that his face had been badly cut and mutilated by the shards of rifle. Compared to him, my wounds had been a walk in the park. His eyes had both been impaled by steel shrapnel, and a revolting mixture of some clear fluid and blood dripped from his sightless eyes to the ground. I felt sorry for him. Uncomfortably, I watched his awkward approach. Like me, he was also bleeding from the ears. I felt pity for him. After all, blind, deaf, and almost dead, he wouldn't pose a threat to me, would he?

I winced at the pain in my calf, then swore one more time for good measure before I tore a strip out of my uniform. I wrapped the cloth around my calf haphazardly, and it stuck on only because of the blood. In a few moments, the grey fabric had turned a dark greyish red mottled with lighter patches of scarlet. I began limping back to the rest of my Confederate comrades. I kept low, and though the sharp sound of gunfire crackled around me, I was miraculously not shot again. After what seemed like hours, I finally returned to where my comrades were waiting for me. Unfortunately, it wasn't much better there. The only difference was that here, my cover was the bodies of my fellow Confederates. We could not stop the Yankee approach, or so it seemed. *end of page*

With some difficulty, I left my cover, limping out into the open. The Yankee soldier didn't even turn. He really was blind.
"Where are the medical supplies?" I demanded, pointing my pistol at him. "Where are the weapons? TELL ME!" He turned his head in my direction at last. Apparently he wasn't entirely deaf.
"What?" he asks, a hint of hope in his voice.
"WHERE ARE THE MEDICAL SUPPLIES AND THE WEAPONS?!" I scream at him in desperation, holding my pistol with both hands and cocking it, ready to fire. He shakes his head. Apparently, he can hear noise, but he can't quite make out what I'm saying.

I sighed as I notice my allies dying; quickly I head to the medics tent and ask for some fresh bandages. As soon as I get them on nice and secure I quickly get enough ammo to last me the rest of the fight and get back to the line.
