I was just wondering what everyone else's opinion is. Is it right for the new modern government and certain groups to try and remove God out of things like school, monuments, the pledge of allegiance, etc.?

I agree wuth Hypermnesta. This country was created for people to be able to exrcise free religion. Therefore God should not be replaced or removed from the US. If in the future, though, the majority of people in the US insist on dong thinfs such as removing "God" from the plege of allegiance, then it should be done. This is a democracy, after all.

No offense, but you're not agreeing with me there, that's not what I said lol.
Freedom of religion means people can practice whatever religion or lack thereof they feel like. Therefore God should be removed from the government, because otherwise we're pretty much forcing God on people.

If someone believes in God, they almost always believe he is everywhere

All around them, with them, even inside of them

So, my point is.....if someone trusted in God, it would kind of go with the whole God being in the places you trust

Get what I am saying? Please tell me if you don't

WRONG! Religion has served to divide the country far more times than it has unified it.

That could of been done by independent charities. Also, America has poured a lot of money into building Churches - don't forget that it has been a very give-and-take sort of relationship.

I fell this way about religion, " Sorry, I don't pollute my mind."

Yes, with all that tax revenue we don't get from all those churches...

people, people

churches are not the main concern here, if it even is a concern at all

what is a concern is whether or not it is right to remove God from the places people put their trust and faith in God the most?

this isnt our america, it was here long before us, what gives us the right to change it.

I realize tradition is important to many people, but you are the ones that live there now, why would some skeletons bother if their old home was changed? You live there now, it's important you make it fit for your generation. And many people living today appear to have an issue with god being put on coins etc.

As you pointed out earlier those who believe in God mostly see him as being everywhere. So for them what should it matter if the money says "In God We Trust" or not? He would be there for them regardless.

It does however matter to others without a belief in God and given we are not placing trust in God. Also the way it is written implies the Abraham God or at least a monotheistic God further excluding those of a polytheistic belief. This phrase also excludes the deistic belief even if it is believing in a singular deity as God did nothing more then kick start everything and stepped away so it would make no sense to place our trust in such a God.

Answer me this: Is it right to remove the saying "In God We Trust"? We must remove this before removing God

I firmly agree. And as such we must remove the influence of God on the laws and money and everywhere else in America, because when it was founded that was not there. It was added much later. If we want to return to American values and principles as they were intended then we need to rebuild the 'wall of separation' between religion and government.
