I feel up to make a very harsh comment right now, but I am resisting the urge to do so. Anyway, why make a thread when no one asked you to?

I would like you to verify your "credentials".

Well, I made the thread because I thought it would be helpful even if no one asked me to. If someone wants help then they can easily come here and ask. Why does it concern you so much?

And how do you plan on "verifying my credentials", are you meaning is it in my authority to create such a thread? I can create any thread i would like. If you are meaning my "credentials" to help others with homework, it's not like I am saying that I would be the only one helping, i was hoping the community would help, i know the intelligence here.

Does it give you an example of d=# or im pretty sure you find wat number d is so 2.9 times what = 10.4

I guess you divide 10.4 by 2.9, and that's your answer. I'm not sure, but I'm guessing it's the same concept as 10=2d, in which you would divide 10 by 2, so d=5. There's my help. And I didn't even have to take calculus to figure that out!

Hey cool I got this generating question that I don't get so hep would be nice.

http://img4.glowfoto.com/images/2010/10/06-2005202619L.png

I got some others like inclusive and exclusive probably and rook polynomials that I could help getting cleared up.

But yeah I could help with math and other subjects since I've done all the math up to second year university.

To answer the problem you must divide both sides by 2.9...get the variable on a side by itself...

10.4=2.9D
/2.9 | /2.9
______________
3.59=D

(Sorry i work all of my math problems downwards)

So... it's like solving for d? Because if it is you need to divide both sides by 2.9, so one side is left with d and the other side is 3.58. Use a calculator.

I laughed so hard.
But I will participate.
However, as Wes said, students must show their work. So here's what I have to say: DON'T tell them the answers! Tell them how to work the problem on their own!

10=2d cept with decimals so like 10.4=2.9d and it confuzzles me

Easy enough.
First thing you need to know: the goal in algebra is to make stuff even on both sides. So, in order to make things even, you have to do the same thing to both sides! And the "divider" of both sides of the problem is the equal sign. Like so...
10 + f = 13
-10 -10
--------------
0 + f = 3
f = 3
You subtract 10 on both sides of the problem and bring down the answers and the variable(in this case, "f&quot. Then you simply remove the zero from the equation and voila, you have your answer.
And to find out what operation you do, well that's easy as well. You just do the inverse(opposite) operation. So for example...
12d = 120
--- ---
12 12
d = 10
It's difficult to really tell, but I divided both sides of the problem(being that the original was multiplied), then crosscancelled(italicized is crosscancelled because I can't really show it any other way. If I put a slash through it then it would look like it was division) the two twelves. Then I found 120/12, which is 10, meaning that d = 10.
So in your little problem it'd look something like this.
10.4 = 2.9d
--- ---
2.9 2.9
3.59(rounded to the hundredths) = d
Do you understand?
I have my 6th grade math teacher to thank for my knowledge on the subject. She was awesome.

Sorry for reposting the answer.
Pre-algebra and Algebra are both a joke. I'm in 11th grade Precalculus, and that's kind of a joke too.

So, anybody read the book Lord of the Flies? I have to write an essay about it.
