with m16 players look like high professional, tactical badasses whereas ak-47 is simple, even farmers in some part of the world have it(joke obviously) but it depends on the game. some games have faved m16 which means it looks kickass, while others made ak-47 look like godzilla ( powerfull and sexy :] ) that's for games. In real life ak-47!!! simple, fairly accurate, CHEAP, durable, common (some more recent modification do burst!)
they both have there points lets start whit the m16 the m16 has a 3 round burst which is better for sparing your ammo but you can also put it into automaticly and single shot which the ak-47 can do also but the power of the m16 isn't good as that of the ak-47 but the ak-47 blocks so sometimes it can explode but it cheaper and powerfuller so the ak-47 =)
AK-47, just look at the Vietnam era. It was more effective since it was suited to the humid environment and its greater penetration meant that it could shoot through
what? You're talking about games like CoD? Oh, nevermind.
M16 is light, accurate and is highly customizable depending on the mission. The AK is heavy, inaccurate and LOUD. You can also hand one to your typical 12 year old Somali and have him flinging lead down the streets of whatever squatters hell the local militia is fighting over with almost no training. It's also nearly indestructable, so after the little kid gets wasted and drops it out a 4th story window you can pick it up and hand it to the next 12 year old.
it really depends on the shooter. in real life however, the ak has 0 accuracy and is outdated. the m16 however, has gone through a lot of changes, there for staying up to date.
Both of them have different capabilities i say. The ak47 has more power and its recoil is high, being less accurate. The M16 is less powerfull then the AK but its more accurate and the recoil is less. For my preference, i say the AK47 is better although these guns are designed for different purposes....
Well, in real life, the M16A1 was a total failure. Lots of technical problems and the like. The AK, however, is quite sturdy and can withstand being thrown into the mud, which the M16A1 can't. Now, I know the M16A1 is out of date, and they've updated it, but I don't know much about the current M16.
Now, in Call Of Duty, it depends on the game. In CoD4, the M16 is the best gun in the game, being able to kill in 3 shots (all from 1 burst). The AK is also quite powerful in CoD4 but not as much as the M16. So the M16 wins out there. The same thing in MW2, except the AK is worse (higher visual recoil), so the M16 wins again. In Black Ops, the AK is quite powerful still, while I feel the M16 has lost some power. So I think the AK is better in that game.

NO. NO NO NO NO NO. NO
NO.
NO.
The M16A1 was introduced in Vietnam and was considered a failure and jammed a lot BECAUSE US SOLDIERS DID NOT KNOW HOW TO CLEAN IT. Once they figured out how to clean it properly, it functioned like a charm.

Yes. But the newer versions of the M16 have resolved many of the problems of the A1. You can't beat the AK's sturdiness, but the M16 is by far the superior gun. If you feel like digging through the past pages, I wrote a pretty comprehensive review of the guns.
