Why do half the people who visit the WEPR forums smear Christianity? Why don't you people realize that, yeah, Christians can be real dumb-a** mofo's from time to time, but yet there are many, many Christian organizations out there that do good all across the globe. Why must you spend your time trying to convince people that Christians are bad people when that is simply not true?
I'm quite aware of that. What I meant was, she was an atheist who was planning to turn Mormon, but wasn't quite sure if she believed in God. However, she was still planning on getting baptized.
Statements like your religion is stupid, a crutch, waste of time, are insulting and don't hold any weight. To say, "I think this... is stupid because..." seems more useful in a debate and not insulting.
Wait, I didn't say anything was stupid (is this directed at me?)
Sorry, I didn't respond early. I quoted myself (the first quote) It wasn't directed at anyone. It was supposed to be a generic example. I've just seen forms of it other places on the internet, I haven't seen it on AG ever. I tried to use it as a generic example of what sometimes happens. I should have put the other side to the example, because both sides do it.
Well, I've read some of the responses and there isn't much left for me to say.
However, I do have an open question for everyone. Have we discussed Jehovah's Witnesses before? I REALLY think we should. They tend to be very different from the other Christians. Honestly, I respect them out of every sect of Christianity. Why? Because they are the most consistent and have fewer hypocrisies.

While this may be all fine and good, I find them to be one of the more intolerable sects for coming to my door every few months or so trying to tell me about their religion. And when I tell them I'm not interested they start on about how they can "save" me.
You could just put a sign on your door or not answer it? It isn't that hard to do. But why do you turn them away? They are really interesting to talk to.
All of the ones I've spoken to are pretty well-spoken and know their stuff. I talked to one so long that she told me SHE had to go.

I don't turn them away. I merely turn them away from the subject of religion until in inevitably comes back around. I once had a conversation with two of them who came to my door on who would win the Superbowl that year.
They used to visit my house when I was younger. Around 7 or 8 I think, I hated the fact that if my mom/dad left me alone with them a few seconds they would attempt to convince me alone that my then belief in Hinduism would send me to hell.
This is interesting. I've never met a Jehovah's witness that spoke like that. Never once did one tell me I was going to hell or that my beliefs were wrong. They always made it clear that it's a choice. And if you're with them, great. If not, that's okay too.
