examine the area around the door for any out of place decorations (like a flower vase or pot), and if there is any, search in, under and around it.

Trafire searches around anything that looks to be out of place, but she does not find anything.

i look inside the spaces between stairs (i don't enter just use mah vision)

Xav looks in the space between the back stairs and the ground, and sees something interesting: a vase full of flowers, none of which have wilted. And besides, who would see the vase of flowers? Very suspiciousish.

I said and such, I'm checking everything around the house, and btw, I DON'T METAGAME, so stop telling us to look in the DMG, since I'm apparently the only one who owns it.

Sorry.

Siber(since only one person can fit in the gap at a time) instructs Xav to move the vase, which he does. Underneath the vase, he finds a wrinkled scrap of paper, on which is written the following...

"For entrance, take a flower.
But which flower will you choose?
Purples, oranges, pinks and blues.
Reds and yellows, whites and blacks.
Choose, for you cannot go back.

Purple flowers will not do.
Neither will what makes purple.
What else cannot work? Well, pink.
So, now what do you think?

I don't like the color of night,
so there's that done and all gone.
Still, you had best hope you are right.

Orange simply will never do.
Nor will the colors that make orange work for you.
Now you know everything that you must
So pick...but don't be wrong, or else you are dust."

So, there are red, blue, purple, pink, yellow, white, black, and orange flowers in the vase, and only one of each color. One flower will be right, the rest will be wrong. Picking the correct flower means you will be able to enter the house...picking the wrong flower means something bad.
