Well, I was searching to see if this was already made, but the searches didn't show a thread with my idea so here it is. I am making this thread so we can have a typical tavern discussion thread for all things science! Basically, a thread for everything science! Ranging from discussions about laws and theories, scientific debate, breakthroughs, discussion about new scientific breakthroughs, certain scientists/philosophers, and all that good stuff!
So go out there and let out your inner science! ;P
To get us going somewhere I'll start: what do you think the future holds for technology? I think our knowledge will allow us to overcome the obstacles thrown at us in the future, I mean, we have discovered so much and have come so far!

Wikipedia is a very good source. I also found out that cockroaches are not immune to radiation, but they have a resistance such that the lethal dose is 6-15 times that for humans. Wikipedia also stated that some think cockroaches would inherit the world if a nuclear war occurred.

i once put a cockroach in the microwave... it of course lived. It ran around a lot, but lived.

There was an episode on Mythbusters about this. I believe it was the Bolweevil that outlived the Cockroach when exposed to the same amount of radiation. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I know the Cockroach wasn't it.

And XVERB, as much as I hate cockroaches, thats just mean. And it reminds me of a recent murder case that CNN put up about a women who microwaved her child.

There are other ways to kill a cockroach, and microwaving apparently doesn't kill a cockroach.

Also, about

How long did you microwave it for? If you want to microwave a cockroach to death, you probably need more time on the microwave than what you did.

More time or more power. Or more of both

I was actually lying... i never did that, i was just sparking a conversation.

I looked it up on youtube and all of their cockroaches died. With a lower power microwave it would probably live. But higher powered ones could probably kill it.

That tactic must've worked then. Anyway, I would rather step on a cockroach than microwave it.

In that case the houses would be safe. As long as they don't get torn apart. Can we make them out of materials that will keep them safe. Would concreate do it.

I'm not sure if it would make much of a difference for the building itself, but the base would likely have to be made of a different material.

If i were to stick a lava lamp in the microwave, what would happen? :O maybe blow up in my face?

Here's your answer.

What happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovible object?

They may cancel each other out.

They may cancel each other out.

Or perhaps the force would simply go through the object. For physics is strange and does not make complete sense. 0.o

The force will conserve its energy and object will stay stable.

Actually it does make sense, that's it's whole function.

If black holes just keep sucking in energy and matter will the entire universe be sucked into them eventually?
