Well, I was searching to see if this was already made, but the searches didn't show a thread with my idea so here it is. I am making this thread so we can have a typical tavern discussion thread for all things science! Basically, a thread for everything science! Ranging from discussions about laws and theories, scientific debate, breakthroughs, discussion about new scientific breakthroughs, certain scientists/philosophers, and all that good stuff!
So go out there and let out your inner science! ;P
To get us going somewhere I'll start: what do you think the future holds for technology? I think our knowledge will allow us to overcome the obstacles thrown at us in the future, I mean, we have discovered so much and have come so far!

no because they eventually fade away, and the universe is expanding at such a fast rate, it would not affect a huge part of it, there are so many things humans dont know about them yet though so it is entirely possible for anything to happen.
theres even a theory atm that states all stuff sucked into them form anougher universe in a different dimension. wierd 0_o lol

Wait, what do you mean fade away? Because a black hole is condensed matter and matter can't be destroyed.

What happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovible object?

Its a paradox. The Universe will not allow a paradox to happen, therefore:

A) Unstoppable Forces and Immovable Objects do not exist.

-or-

B) An Unstoppable Force would never meet an Immovable Object.

Black holes exist for a finite period of time. Hawking Radiation allows black holes to dissipate energy. As a result of that, black holes eventually evaporate. Albeit, after a massive span of time.

Assuming that the universe is expanding at a constant rate, and will continue expanding, of course.

Ok, thanks.

It should be. That's what were taught in chem.

Actually the rate of expansion is increasing.

Bravehawk, feel free to bring up anything you wish.

Would you consider the existence of a white giant star to be at all possible?

Short answer yes.

You can see with the graph in the link.

In fact not only is it possible but they exist.

That must consume an unbelievable amount of hydrogen. Fusion in a star usually ceases around iron. Would the massive amount of heat and mass be enough to produce heavier elements?
