Since we have a LOT of duplicate threads on Armatars, I'm creating this sticky post where users can discuss ideas about armatars.
We've stated several times that Dan is in charge of armatars at the moment, and that if you want new armatars to go let him know. We have several new ideas for armatars on AG3 that we'll discuss in this thread as we work on it.
For starters, we ARE going to allow custom armatars at some point. I'm not sure if it'll be there when AG3 launches, but it's a priority. We'll have strict requirements, probably something like being a member for more than 6 months, and have a certain number of points/achievements or a reputation level of a certain rank or something. The specifics are still being worked out. One idea is that at one level (points/achievements/reputation), you could upload an armatar that only you could use. At another level, you could unlock it for your friends to use. At another level, your followers, and at the highest level, make it available for anyone on the site. We've also discussed the idea of letting our most artistic users create entire *sets* of armatars for the site.
In AG3, all users will have a unique URL for their armatar, which they can use on other sites if they choose. We'll have a link on your dashboard that will show you what the URL is or how to download a high-quality version of the image.
All armatar uploads will be heavily scrutinized by human eyes before they go live on the site. Users who abuse the system by uploading an image against our Terms and Conditions and other rules and guidelines about images will be permanently banned from the site.
Anyhow, if you have other ideas, questions, suggestions, please place them here. If you see other users asking about AG3 armatars, please direct them back to this forum thread.
No. Users should be able to use whichever Armatar they please.
i w wanna go to custume a armatar but how i place de figure of armatar on the site?
I think you're asking if you can have custom Armatars. The answer to that is no. There's no custom Armatars on AG2. But if you read the first page, cormyn mentioned something about us being able to upload our own Armatars in AGv3.
why won't community involvement give you AP. Can't an avid ArmorGames user be rewarded for being on this site, and supporting it?
I'm sure that you'll get some kind of reputation stuff from Community involvement because there will be a up and down vote thing next to posts. From what I've read. And this isn't the topic for the discussion of Armor Points in AGv3. Let's get back on topic and talk about the Armatars.
Hmm, I read back and noticed that my question wasn't answered by any of the Administrators, well, it was more of an idea then a question, but it was still unanswered. So I'll ask again: Will we be able to unlock certain seasonal Armatars if we gain enough AP/Reputation/Karma in AGv3? I think it would be good to be able to see the seasonal Armatars back up on the site. I never got a chance to choose from them so I would like to be able to in AG3.
Several non-Armatar posts have been deleted from users asking questions about Armor Points. Please stay on the topic of Armatars. I'll open the Armor Points thread for discussion as soon as we have more information.
Honestly, I don't know what the lock/unlock mechanism will look like, because one of the other webdevs has built the new armatar system while I've worked on other things.
What we've talked about is having the ability to create "sets" of armatars on AG3, and I imagine we could have seasonal armatars set up in exactly that fashion, where we can enable/disable the set from being accessible to users.
Whether we'll have the ability to do that on a scheduled basis, or if someone will manually need to flip a switch to enable/disable them, I don't know. But I imagine they WILL come available.
I'll discuss it with Phil, a new web developer we hired about a month ago. He's been building a whole new Armatar system from scratch.
My question is: How are we going to unlock new Armatars if the AP system is going away in the forums. That's where I get most of my points, and I'm not too huge into the gaming end of the website.
