It's funny how your almost never born atheist, you become atheist. I personally think the whole religion thing is far fetched. Why cant we just be dead after we die? Why does there HAVE to be an afterlife? Dont get me wrong i respect others decisions, I just don't believe in it, who's with me? I'm going to be some grass fertilizer one day And home to some maggots + worms.

THAT'S... MOST... FALLACIOUS... ARGUMENT... I... EVER... HEARD...
IF YOU ARE NOT HORRIFIED YOU ARE HORRID PERSON?!
<<calms down>>ah, it's trolling. It must be. Please, tell me youre sarcastic or trolling...

You don't seem to understand what a fallacious argument is, actually I don't think you understand what an ARGUMENT is. E1337's post was to show his perspective over the issue. You cannot formulate an argument over wether a person is horrid or not, since being 'horrid' is a matter of perspective. But really to be perfectly honest, if you think condoning ****, genocide, slavery, murder and incest is not horrific then you and many others have fundamentaly opposing perspectives.

Dair5, go read the bible and get back to us, it's kinda obvious you haven't read through it.

I have not been to one mass where they read those parts of the bible. i know they're there. i have read them. it exists, but it's just not something they read in mass. In fact at my masses they preach about loving non-christians. the religon has changed over time and it doesn't mean that now all christians follow every word.

Christianity greatly helped the Romans be better people. roman culture was much more before christianity then afterwards.

Examples please? When Christianity was introduced, it inspired Romans to feed Christians to lions. Hardly a positive cultural influence.

I have not been to one mass where they read those parts of the bible.

Because they avoid the icky parts.

So basically "Ignore the parts that you don't like. ****? Murder? Stoning orders? Out the window. Jesus and Moses saying that the law will stay the same, and that you are not aloud to add or change things? Burn it. Great plan.

Oh obviously they don't teach those passages, but the Bible is the holy word from God, is it not? And if the religion has changed, that means one of two things, or possibly both. You are heathens for going against the Bible, or it's wrong and needs changing, on which case why is the entire religion not wrong if what it's based on is?

I'm sorry, E1337, but you failed. Religious communist? LOL.
GODS SAKE! I dont believe religion can make you better...
AND I DONT BELIEVE IT CAN TURN YOU EVIL, NEITHER!
That's absurd! There are bad people *everywhere*! It means *nothing*!
Bad people happen everywhere. MAybe religion counts to some degree, but *for sure* it is *minor* factor! And, if it wouldn't be present, it would be replaced by something different. In world of atheists, it'd be replaced by people's personal pilosophies! (Anyone willing to talk about >atheistic!> LaVeyan Satanism?)
And, "if youre not X then youre Y" IS fallacious argument, as it states that there are ONLY 2 possibilities...

Shino, I will admit, I have NO idea what you're babbling about. Religious Communist? Atheistic philosphies? No one even said there were only two options?

Thank you shinobody. It's not like religon is the cause for the bad things in the world. People would have done things just as bad without it. Religon isn't the cause of bad people, to say that would be making it a scapegoat.

So how exactly did the Crusades start? Could you please explain what the hell caused this war, if not religion?

Greed.
They'd raid it for gold, or, pollitically,
"to reclaim the lands lost by Eastern Roman Empire".
You are waaay too optimists guys...
If the world would be that simple - erase religion and it'll be alright...
(BTW - "religious communist" was about some silly suggestions that Stalin wasn't atheist)

E1337, LaVeyan Satanists, contrary to popular belief, DON'T believe in God or Satan.
NYC has 2 skyscrapers less, because of some mo**********s terroists, who, after enough indoctrination decided to sacrifice their lifes for some ideals. I'm sorry, but towers would fall the same if they were taken down by communist or anrchist terrorism...

Gold. BS. How much gold do you think they found? Little, if any, especially compared to what that amount of manpower could do in one of their mines? You could triple it.

"to reclaim the lands lost by Eastern Roman Empire".

Possibly. But why? That sounds like a horrible move politically. "Lets send off all our young men. Why? I don't know. Lets just claim the land that the Romans lost. Ya. That sounds like a good reason to cross many miles of desert for useless land."? Horrible move politically.

If the world would be that simple - erase religion and it'll be alright...

You won't have a huge army going off to fight "For god and country", sure humans will still fight, but they will have to think of an actual reason first. Instead of saying "We are going to kill this guy. Why? God said to." They have to think of an actual reason, which lessens the amount of war and hatred dramatically. How do you think homophobia would survive if the only argument was "Homosexuality is icky"? Things like that need religion to keep them going.

(BTW - "religious communist" was about some silly suggestions that Stalin wasn't atheist)

...I don't see how religion and communism are connected at all.

Well let's look at a world without religon. Is it beautiful? is it perfect? is it free of war, violence pestilence, gangs, and greed? Nope. All of the things i mentioned are filled with whatever else humanity has a reason for fighting. We fight, we are greedy, we can be cruel. It's just the way we are, it's not a product of any type of religon.

Wait...so you're saying if I get it started in a religion that brussel sprouts are unholy, I wouldn't have to eat them? Wooo hoo!!

I've started to ignore Shino honestly, he keeps spouting off random things that no one has mentioned and aren't really relevant or connected.

Very true, but as history shows us religion has been a deciding factor in the start of many wars, causing the deaths of millions of humans.
