I like oldish music, like the Beatles, the Kinks and Supertramp (some of you might not have heard about those last two). I hate rap. It's not singing, it's talking to a beat. Not a big fan of the metal stuff. Most music is good.
But the Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, Justin Beiber and Rebecca Black have ruined it for all of us.

metal just evolved from death metal, to screamo. and i disagree also, because underoath was kinda the founding band of screamo and they cam out way before 2007

You realize screamo has nothing to do with metal... at all, right? Screamo started around 1990, too. I recommend doin some research.

Many of you fail to realize that we are going through the second folk revival since modern music. The first revival was during the 60's and 70's, headed by Bob Dylan and the likes. Now, we are seeing our generations version of modern folk with bands like The Devil Makes Three, Murder By Death, Brown Bird, Pine Hill Haints, etc... I find it quite fascinating, to be honest, as it's a much different take on folk than the first revival.

>___> Screamo is a sub-genre of metal. EVERY SINGLE SUB-GENRE LIST SAYS THAT!!!! G'Day.

Sub-genre, perhaps, but it is undeniable that screamo drew its influences from metal and hardcore, which in turn drew its influence from metal.

Perhaps nothing. It's an official sub-genre and it always has been. Besides, you said metal music derived from metal music. You obviously have no idea on what you're talking about because you're fighting a useless argument. It's like saying "Obama isn't the president of the U.S. right now." Get over it.

Hasn't plain rock really done the same thing? It just got heavier and heavier.

i guess you could say that, but then again, you have gotten emerging artists such as iron and wine, deathcab for cutie, and Civil Twilight who arent heavy and are quite light

And I repeat: Screamo has nothing to do with metal. Screamo branched off from hardcore punk. Basically a chaotic/dissonant/emotional offshoot of hardcore.

See? Not metal in the slightest

I find it hilarious that you think Underoath invented a genre that they've never played and was around about 10 years before they even formed, delossantosj. Haha.

Screamo branched off from hardcore punk.

As in The Clash, or The Offspring? Those are some of the lightest bands I know.

Hahaha, no. The Clash and The Offspring are DEFINITELY not hardcore punk. Try Black Flag, Minor Threat, Reagan Youth, etc.

Never heard of any of those. Is hardcore punk like deathcore metal but in a different form?
