From what I have gathered over the time my brother loaded me with music from the 60s to today. I have to say that the worst songs from van halen and also zepplin could still trump whatever katy perry, or gaga, or (shudder) bieber puts on the top of the charts. This generation has dug it's own grave by placing too many artificial tones and fast beats. those things are no substitute for raw talent, but reccord companies today seem to think so.

dont blame synthesizers for it dude. those have been around forever and take just as much talent to play as any other instrument. and dont hate on lady gaga either.... you dont have to like her music, but she writes and produces ALL of her material. thats a big deal especially for being a pop artist. i have nothing but respect for her.

and how are you going to say that van halen and led zeppelin are bad? they are amazing bands and of course the worst by them still trumps justin beiber. thats not saying much. there were in fact, bad bands back then also. they just didnt survive the times, and justin beiber wont either

i believe music does not change but we change, and music is a refexion of what we are and the image of ourselves we want to potray.

Interesting what you say "music doesnt change but, people change" but, doesnt music influence people not the other way around?

she writes songs that she knows will make it to the top, and for the longest time, she wrote them for other artists. it look a lot of people to be like, "hey, why dont you just sing your own songs?". then she finally did, and look at her now. that lady knows her way around the music industry

I think for the worse, you know compare Jazz in the 30's to jazz today, jazz today is so boring and artsy not what it was meant to be.
Or rap, used to be good now its ****

i agree with the rap part, but disagree with the jazz. artsy isnt bad, and not trying to be mean or nothing, but who are you to say what music is "meant to be"

I would definitely have to say for the worse, or at least mainstream music has. Rap has just been completely destroyed in my opinion, I can't even call it music anymore. And as for mainstream artists like Justin Bieber, etc. it is most definitely for the worst. You don't even need actual talent anymore just a stupid video and a hideous amount of autotune.....

I prefered the music in the 70's or 80's (only rock). The currents bands aren't very good (except the Red Hot or Airbourne) and they copy the style of the old group (for example, I think that Green Day copy Aerosmith and Deep Purple). So, I never listen current music.
There are more and more bad artists as Justin Bieber or Lady Gaga or Rihanna. I hate techno or R&B music.

I do believe that there is some good rap out there, but I'll just sum it up with this:

Rap is generalized in the same way that metal is generalized by Black Veil Brides.

Don't know who Black Veil Brides is? You're better off not knowing.

Metal was amazing in the 80's, 90's and up until 2007.
After that Attack Attack, Black Veil Brides, and Saliva took over the mainstream stuff. Of course, the stuff that wasn't meant for mainstream but for people who listen to good stuff saved people like me.

metal just evolved from death metal, to screamo. and i disagree also, because underoath was kinda the founding band of screamo and they cam out way before 2007

I had no idea who that was until you pointed them out. Yeah, I suppose they could go along with the now crappy metal bands.
