The question is simple. Should Israel exist. I know that this subject is very controversial so I am setting some "ground rules." 1. Because Israel is so tied into Judaism, NO ANTI-SEMETIC COMMENTS 2. Please back up your reasoning with facts 3. Respect other's opinions. I cannot tell you how many times I have been on CNN and seen people flinging mud at each other. BE RESPECTFUL!
I am looking forward to seeing the posts and logic behind the opinions.
The creation of Israel was a farce from the beginning. The fact that the united nations and member nations attempted to found a democratic nation by very undemocratic means causes an initial paradox. The country of Palestine was systematically obliterated for Israel in its sted and initially was halved to create Israel. So ask yourself, is it right to destroy a country to build up another? In my opinion it is not democratic or even humane to destroy the sovreignty of any nation, so therefore Israel should never have existed
Ummm, please show me a world map globally recognized that shows a country of Palestine. Also, please tell me if the Arabs don't have a "P" sound, how could they name their country Palestine...
As I have previously stated, Palestine was the name given to that specific region by the Romans.
While it was named Palestine by the Romans, the land from which Israel was carved was called the Mandate of Palestine under the mandate system as was established by the League of Nations post WWI. In this case the mandate of Palestine was established as an interim government between ottoman control and the governments that were planned to be instated. With the expiration of the mandate the sovreignty was to be returned to the native population, however in the area where Israel was to appear the British had supplanted the native population with Jewish refugies. Israel became a nation literally one day before the withdrawl of British troops. Had Israel not been declared a country, the control would have been returned to the native Arab population that lived in the region that was named by the Romans and is commonly refered to as "Palestine".
Yes, however, at the point that Israel became a nation, the British were free to give the land away. One of the main reasons that Israel was given to the Jews was because of the Alliyot, or the immigration phases that were happening, many of them illegally. The Brits figured they could just cut and run, but then they gave us the mess we have today.
So the brits cut and run, but why does that make the creation of Israel right? it doesn't change the fact that the indigenous population got screwed for a population who, while they were immigrating there, still had no really viable claim to the land or at least not one that trumped the claim of the natives
actually the cartoon has no worth, if it showed the event you are relating it to you might have apoint, but that cartoon has no relation to the evnt it depicts, its just a massive lie
anyway this is reall how it is:
the world sees an arab being blown up by an israeli rocket israelis see the arabs rockets and guns next to him what no one see is the other ten israeli rockets launching all around into the homes of innocent civillians
What the world doesn't see in your situation are the Hamas troops running into the civilian homes, and then the civilians standing in front of their doorway with their arms out stretched.
so you think that because civillians have sympathies with hamas and even harbour them that they are all ok to gun down? anyway this isnt even the case most of the time, there was a stroy on the BBC about a woman running out of a house with a white flag and being shot dead on site, and that israeli tank crews were purposely running over graveyards, these were witnessed first hand by the reporter, there was also some footage of dead women, red cross convoys being stopped and not allowed to aid people
sorry no it was one the television about a year ago, you can take my word for it or not, anyway you can go on the internet and find multiple articles along these lines
@theregualtor, the world doesnt work like that, you cant just take what you want when you want stop being a fool and actually look at things more in depth
do your research!!! you look like massive idiot trying too discuss something you have no idea about, read up on this, come back with some facts then well talk, as all of your last post didn't make any sense
Palestine was part of the British empire, they promised to make it a free state, however they gave the land to Jews from Europe who had been displaced by the second world war, they eventually took all the land intended for the Palestinians, surrounding countries for a multitude of reasons, Palestine however was not a participant of the war as it did not exist
you really need to go and do some research because you really just look like an idiot, as you can tell this frustrates me greatly, as this is actually something worth debating and you come in here with no research and no incite what so ever and spam up the forum
that doesn't in any way support what you said! Palestine wasn't part fo that war as Palestine didn't exist, it was a war between Israel and other Arab countries to try and establish a Palestine!
it also has no information on the six day war, the six day war happened in the seventies, and again it did not involve Palestine as it did not exist
you clearly have your facts completely messed up, go and do some research
you still had your facts confused, that article has nothing to do with the six day war, and palestine wasnt included, as again there was no palestine, and you can look at it either way, why shouldnt the arabs have tried to protect theri land, and really its israel that invaded palestine so to speak
sorry no it was one the television about a year ago, you can take my word for it or not, anyway you can go on the internet and find multiple articles along these lines
I chose not to believe you because anyone can make up radical facts and claim they heard it on the news.
