I am going to a trip soon and this just came to mind. What are your toughts on this high security in the airports? there has been many things going on with not allowing people on the plane because of their religion and things like that. any thoughts?
And security on the plane is going to be able to spot a bomb better than a body scanner how? Security on a plane would more be for preventing a hostage situation but now people just try to blow everything up.
Yeah, because terrorists blowing planes up with bombs was a normal occurrence before security was heightened.
We are giving up our rights as good people because there's a minority of evil people.
When you fly, or do anything for that matter, you give up certain rights. For example, you are on a train, and the train has a policy of keeping your voice down. There is a real ******* who keeps screaming into his cellphone. Security removes said man. In order to do something, it might require giving up a right or two. You don't have to fly...
What about the bus stop? Should we perform a strip search before people are allowed onto a bus? There's potential for the bus to be hijacked or for someone to be robbed on a bus.
Whose treating anyone like criminals? Kids should be treated as potential threats because what's to stop a terrorist group from using a kid?
Statistically speaking, people aren't going to bring a non-metal weapon onto an airplane and hijack it. This holds true for children as well. We shouldn't allow thousands upon thousands of people to be exposed in front of x ray cameras or patted simply because there's a small minute chance that a terrorist might get through.
And why would a terrorist make a bomb and hide it on a child just to blow up a passenger airline? How often did this EVER happen?

Ummm, maybe because it WORKS!!!! Children are not seen as a threat, therefor the perfect device to be used by terrorists. I mean, how easy would it be?
Terrorist: "I need you to carry this on board for me." Child: "Okay." T: "But don't tell you're mommy. Here's a lollipop for being so good."

It doesn't happen because we check kids too. We don't always have to wait for an attack to happen to do something. It's good that we are proactive for once. It would be horrible if the terrorists used a kid as a bomb. Just think of how much worse security would be if we had less security and it did happen.

Strip search? Who said anything about strip search. Anyways we don't do searches for transportation like buses because we have the right to carry weapons on their person.
Fact of the matter is, Hijacking a bus is 1000x less deadly than hijacking an airplane. You might as well have a missile once you hijack an Airplane, and there's no way to really stop it aside from shooting it down. A bus you can blockade, tire spikes, etc. Not to mention a plan has over 100 people normally, if not 200, a bus might have around 20-30?

BOOM
Honestly, this kind of logic can be applied to anywhere, including shopping malls and other stores. I could easily place a bomb inside a child and blow these places up as well.
It just doesn't happen.

Well, you have to be careful with preventive measures. Just because you're not waiting for something bad to happen doesn't mean you're justified.
It's hard to debate with people who are okay with trading protection to the right for the government to feel your children up. I'm sorry, but we need to establish some moral values.
Yes, security prevents terrorist attacks. I won't deny that, but is it worth it? Does the end honestly justify the means? In my opinion, no.
What is a moment of inconvenience compared to the savings of lives of thousands. I doubt children would go:
child: Mommy, that security person made me feel bad. I am now just going to sit down on this floor and never ever move ever again and be scared for the rest of my life. Its not like the children are complaining, and I fail to see how this makes anyone treated like a criminal. Also, airplanes have such tight security because they are gateways to other countries, so people cant bring invasive species and other deadly devices to harm other countries.

...you make it sound like every child who's going through the security check is getting sexually molested. This isn't the case, they don't even touch them unless the scanner goes off, and even then it's just a pat down, not ****...

Yeah, but a mall is not a moving missile, which could kill over 3k people. The max casualties that you could get from a mall are a couple hundred, with non multi-billion structure damage. That's still tragic, but not on the same level as an airplane.

These facts also make it less likely that terrorists will choose a mall as a target over an airplane. It doesn't have the same 'shock' factor that using a plane as an over-sized battering ram does.
