I have done this type of thread on other gaming sites, but none of them wanted to take a stance on this issue. Let me try it here, where civilized people are.

Moderators: If I missed something in the rules (I read them 5 times) please lock this thread.

THIS IS NOT MEANT TO INSULT PEOPLE.
^
I can't make it any clearer. Most people think I am insulting others, but I am not trying to.

TROLLS, SPAMMERS, LEAVE THIS THREAD ALONE! You got my thread LOCKED on other sites! Please refrain from flaming me or other people!

Now for the actual discussion.

We see it every-so-often. Another person has been bullied so badly that he/she has committed suicide. What were they being bullied about? They were being told they were gay.<-I hope this isn't going to be starred out. Nothing wrong with that word.

Why are we so afraid of being gay? When you go back in time, you can easily see that we have been afraid of many different things.

1500's---We were afraid of Jews.

The beginning of black slavery in America-1970's-- That certain word was used on African Americans.

1950's---If you were called a communist, you had no future.

2000-present--- If you're gay, you're a target.

This isn't a new trend. But why do we demonize others?! Aren't we human beings? Aren't we smarter than this!?

Until we learn that we are all EQUAL, nothing will change. I would like to hope that we could start here.

No matter what religion or political stance you have, remember one VERY important rule: Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you.

Please comment as to why you think we demonize people. Also, please give out ideas on how we can shut down people who hate others (examples above).

TROLLS, SPAMMERS, AND FLAMERS, LEAVE!

I think that at some point in your life, everyone has a moment where they decide if they are gay or strait

people dont choose that. if god exists then he creates them that way.

being gay can mean, lieing about who you are, being afraid to be alone, being afraid to be hated by your friends, being afraid to be hated by your family, being afraid of getting beat up just because of who you are, and getting different treatment (weather its hatred or just being someone with a "desease&quot, and of course going to hell in christtianity.

im not christian and i know nothing about it. but if im not wrong you can ask for forgiveness if you really regret what you do. you can kill someone and regret it and then maybe you will be forgiven. but you cant regret being gay because it was never your choice and even if youd be forgiven it would be imposibble for you to not "sin" again.

sin is something bad a person can choose to do or not to. you cant choose to be gay. why does god create people as sinners then?

trust me, if being gay was a decision then no one would choose that. you dont choose what you like and what you dont like and i doubt anyone would choose something that would result in a life with the things i mentioned above

(NUM 31:18) "But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves."

Isn't that a sin in itself, or do you consider the Bible only promoting Pedophilia rather than against it makes it right?

I don't know any gay Christians who are so self ****ing that they ask for forgiveness everyday, I don't know any who ask for forgiveness period.

I don't understand the self bit..

I understand people repenting sins, like if they murdered someone, but sexuality isn't a sin.

So it isn't a sin to desire to sleep with a woman? Are you cutting that out of the bible?

You seem very quick to point out sins.
Yet not so quick to accept the contradictions in the bible.
I already pointed out both slavery and pedophilia is common throughout the bible.
Isn't it a sin that shouldn't be cut out of the bible?

We're going off topic. Save this to for the Christianity thread.

Pedophilia is a modern problem. Somehow you think there is something morally wrong with it. As if suddenly, regardless of who it is, all girls are unprepared to marry at a younger age than 18.

And they were not slaves, they were servants. They were not forbidden to leave, they chose to stay and work for whoever fed them. The world was cruel in the Old Testamant, so being a servant was probably a better idea than being whatever other occupations you could find.

Anyways off topic. I still stand on my views

All views are welcome here (as are supporting arguments).

Everyone's views are different (which makes this such an interesting world sometimes). It's good to hear from the other side of this debate. It allows us to hear each other out (or, in this case, it allows us to come to an understanding). Thanks for your comments.

Given the two meaningless comments before this one haven't really been cared for (as in no one has made reference or talked about them / replied to them etc) I think I'll just add my own.

Aren't we better than ruling out a social faction for a specific perk?

Depends who ya ask. It's like asking me that if you were in 1941 and were Jewish you would be treated like any other person - it depends where you are, really.

If you're gay, I don't mind, but I don't want you shoving it down my throat - the same with a religion or a certain philosophy you keep going on about.
Unless that is our relationship, just talking about things like political / religious matters then sure, but if we hit it off at the cinema I don't wanna keep being reminded in many ways unless you need the support, really.

Not that my opinion matters on this thread, I look at the posters and already know what's gonna happen - because I'm the one who's gonna be doing it. I'm not gonna give a tiny dog about what's posted after this because I already find this thread dead in terms of actual debate and therefore I'm just throwing my 2 cents into the drain and not to a charity.

Good bye.

[Unintentional innuendo in that sentence]

I agree. They can be proud about it but some take it too far. They treat it like it's a religion. It's like a friend saying, "I'm Jewish!" and you're like, "ok... that dosen't really change anything between us."

Hi,

Sorry about not getting back on this (my computer almost crashed due to some heavy viruses).

I agree 100%.

An example of my interpretation of your words:
I don't mind that people are Christian. But when they come knocking on my door every spring trying to get me to join their church, I get annoyed.

When they try to shove it down my throat, then we have issues.

Thanks for your opinion!

i know right? XD

it also depends onhow consistent they are. im jewish and pretty religios but not as the most religios groups. 2 years ago every friday after school a haredi would stand in our gate and keep asking people if they want to use a tfilin... (look it up). it got really annoying and i used to just hide behing by girl friends on the way out (girls dont use tfilin)
