What do you think should be done about bullying? Have you ever been bullied? Have you ever been the bully? What kinds of bullying are there. With bullying becoming a growing problem in America, how do you think it should be delt with. It is a federal offense to bully anyone based on gender, sexual orientation, religion, race, ethnicity, or national origin. Have you ever been bullied based on any of these things? If so now is the time to speak out on bullying before anyone else becomes a victim.
With bullying becoming a growing problem in America
I would disagree with this. It's not any more of a problem (or not to an extreme), it's just quite a bit more publicized with the advent of the Internet. It's a good thing it's publicized, though, it brings all of the issues to the forefront.
Have you ever been bullied?
I've never been bullied. I've always had a good reputation as being mentally unstable (especially when I was younger, even the teachers though I was insane), though I'm quite a lot more stable recently I've grown to be in the top 25% of people in terms of size. Being a fairly large kid, most people don't constantly harass me. I'll get an occasional problem, but that's just growing up.
Childhood is very much a viking or victim scenario for a lot of people, so I've always figured the best way to respond to harassment (especially physical) is to 'fight back' so to speak. With children, in general, being very stupid, violence is one of the few things that they listen to. It's worked for me, and I've seen it work for plenty other people.
This computer won't let me copy and paste, so this is directed to Goblin: Lesbians do get bullied. Just because you haven't witnessed it doesn't mean it doesn't happen. I got bullied for quite a while over my sexuality.
I think bullying can be due to many things. Peoples ignorance. Authority. The social ladder. Peoples way of dealing with the problems their shadowing.
The majority of the time, it's not severe, although there are cases which are disgusting. I think school need to adapt a better policy to deal with bullying, mainly taking into consideration the emotional aspect.
However in the majority of instances, the bullying ceases. I'm now good friends with my "bully". Times change.
Well, if a school is going to have a policy, it has to be a zero tolerance policy. Like if the victim bullied his or her bully they should recive a punishment, as should the original bully. The issue is that the bully lies and gets out of it.
I agree darkangel. A lot of schools have policies in place which they don't come through on. Sadly some of the teachers see it as a phase that will die out. Sometimes it doesn't.
It's hard for schools to implement a zero tolerance policy though as a lot of the bullies are able to put fear into the victim not to approach a teacher. If they do, they usually get a beating. >.>
The teachers can protect students in school, sure, but what about outside of school? That's when bullying can esculate.
^ Not all the time, but in many cases they can. There'sonly so much a kid can do in school, mainly when it's only a bit of teasing.
But i'm perfectly aware they can't totally protect kids, as most of the people posting here have bee bullied. But you've a better chance in school with them than out of school with them.
hmmm... there have been bully's since there have been prostitutes. there always were and always will be bully's and i don't think it happens more now then 10 year ogo or 20, 50, 100, 500, 2000 year.
Not in my experience. Yes I was told I can count on them but when it came down to it they didn't do a thing. The bullies would go for you when the teacher turns there back or when they know the teacher who is watching won't lift a finger.
But i'm perfectly aware they can't totally protect kids, as most of the people posting here have bee bullied. But you've a better chance in school with them than out of school with them.
I can't watch videos on this connection, so i'll look it up in a couple of days.
Yes but you're clouding your personal experience with the majority of situations. I was bullied, teachers did nothing to help me, but actively prevented many other people in my schol from being bullied.
One situation doesn't usually set standards for an entire school. In some cases sure, i bet the teachers do't life a finger. But bullying will alwas happen regardless of he policy put in place anyways.

In that case I will just fix your quote.
"But i'm perfectly aware they can't totally protect kids, as most of the people posting here have bee bullied. But they've a better chance in school with you than out of school with you."
Jeffery you said that you were bullied too, I would like to know if you were bullied by males or females?
From what I've noticed amongst my own friends while gay guys do attract quite a bit of scorn discussion wise, I've never actually seen them make fun of someone, lesbians tend to gain a much more... favorable response.
I don't have to worry about the atheist issue most of the people that actually know don't really care, and others are actually atheist, considering I live in the bible belt that was rather surprising.
Both. I was in a all girls class at school, so i endured that throughout the day. We mixed genders at break and lunch time, so i got the boys then. The girls were more, hmm, violent but the boys didn't just spew words, got some pretty nasty hits from them too. Not all guys are in favour of lesbians. That said, one of the guys came out three years later >.>
