K, so, this is a general discussion where people share tips about surviving the Zombie Apocalypse. The only requirements here are to remember how far the nearest weapon/grocery store is, or how populated the place you live in is. The larger the spot, the more the zombies. So, you can discuss your basic plan about how to survive, but first, ask yourself some questions, like:
1: What kind of resources do I have?
2: What kind of weapons are available to me now?
2: Where will I go?
Tell about what your main weapon would be (it doesn't have to be a gun), or where you'll go, or if you can improvise.
My main weapons would have to be a shotgun (easy handling, can take out numerous zombies in one shot) or a rifle, and my melee weapon would be a crowbar or an axe, and secondary would be a kitchen or jack knife.

shoot the head and they go blind from paint.

Which is perfect. Unless they go by a sense of smell, hearing or both. So my suggestion would be to learn about your enemy. If they're blind, thats incredibly important. If they can't see but can hear incredibly well, thats also important. You need to know the enemy if you want to beat them.

would try and raid an Army Navy store of what ever supplies I could get. I would also raid a mariner shop for supplies. Then I would head to my grandmothers. She lives right on the water and has my uncles boat docked out back. My uncle had gotten the boat intending to live on it before he got married to it has a full kitchen, bathroom and sleeping area. It has an engine, sails and a life raft fro emergency. I would take the boat and live out on the water until the threat was over.

Except the fact that everyone else in your town wants to do that too!

my brother knows how to use a bow. we get the machetes, fill some bottles with water and put some food and other usefull things in our backpacks. we search 1-3 survivors and go first to the bike store to get new bikes with bike bags. then we go to the hunting store in our town to get bows, arrows and arrow bags (my brother can teach us how to use the bows). after that we go to a store to get seeds of different plants like corn, tomatoes, potatoes and so on, but only seed from plants where we can get more seed. we take some drinks and other things we need. the next step is to find a safe place where we can start a farm and build our own tree house village. while some are farming at 12 a. m. others protect them from above. we can live by hunting (i know how to make some traps and my brother knows how to use a fishing rod). zombies can not climb on trees, right?

Read above.

want a simple weapon, go with the paintball gun fully auto matic.

Im worried about the smartness of my generation.

shoot the head and they go blind from paint. and if they r dead and decaying it should be able to do some damage to them.

What is this... i don't even..

snipers would suck at this. bow and arrow are also too snipy like and you need something to take down hoards not individuals.

Depends on your location. and if I saw a hoard, I would run.

the best place to stay would probably be like washington dc cauz they have the presidents bunker and stuff the government know all about this stuff but they might not let you in.

No ****, they wont let you in. Duh. and plus, stay Away from the cities, especially Washington D.C. with a population of 500,000 Zombies.

the best weapon would be a chain saw.

Cons:

Noisy
Big and Bulky
Takes a ****-ton of gas to keep working
Will jam out quickly
Heavy

Pros:

I see none.

you could run strait through zombie hoards and chop them all up.

And die in the process.

a nuke would be nice too but now we r getting a little crazy

Especially since the area would be New-Chernobyl.

Even if the supply stores were already raided I would still have the boat available and I could still get plenty of supplies from the garage. Given the location it would be more likely the average person also planning to live out on the water would go the the commercial docks instead of someones back yard.
For supplies I would expect most people raiding the various grocery stores and two Wal-Marts int he area.

I think for several reasons it's impossible to survive years for an attack like that. In that case i'll just rush to find the way without pain to die, or the most painless I could get.

How would you guys handle this sort of zombie?

They can't be killed by a shot to the head. (only stunned)
They can sense where you are by your bio electrical field or by sound. (no sense of sight)
If chopped up the parts can come after you.
They move fast to slow depending on decay and damage to the body.
Only permanent ways to stop them is to burn them to ash or otherwise damage the body to the point it can't physically move.
They don't moan and act solely on instinct without thought.

Has no one suggested SPEARS?
Pros: Long reach, can instakill zombies by skewering the brain (Go in through the eye ;D), silent, easy to make (Long stick with a knife on the end) light, versatile.
Cons: Might get stuck in a zombie. emphasis on might.

I'd secure a place in the country, block off the roads by digging a huge ditch, so the zombies can't get across unless they can jump. Next i'd find some survivors and have them farm whatever they can. I'd get a place close to a stream so I could fish.
This country retreat should be in the south so there's no winter. If I had the time, me and the survivors could build a recon tower to signal others and have someone point out approaching zombies. He could also snipe them.
I'd make sure to stock up on nonperishable food like cereal and ramen noodles.
To fight MageGrayWolf's zombies, just let them fall into the ditch, toss some firewood in, then toss a flaming branch in to start a bonfire, roasting them. They'll turn to ash so we won't need to clean out the ditch frequently.
Above all i'd stay away from man-made materials like guns, gasoline, etc because once it's gone, it's gone. use crossbows, solar panels and windmills for electricity, and other "Natural" survival methods.

Good luck on that :P

I'm not sure they would join your cause, or what if they want to kill you?

Still less daylight.

Do any of you have sniping experience?

I'd make sure to stock up on nonperishable food like cereal and ramen noodles.

Mmmm, Kay.

Didn't we go over the ditch part already?

everything you just said was manmade... XD Where do you plan on finding the solar panels and windmills?

There are a LOT of factors to consider in a zombie apocalypse. Things that need to be set up BEFORE a zombie apocalypse happens and after.

Like the Zombie Survival Guide said pay attention to the news! You must get supplies and out of the city before the 'Sh*t hits the fan' or if you decide to stay in the city, get supplies early or leave after things cool down.

1. Guns: need to be used in only dire situations because sounds attracts more zombies! So in my case I would have several metal bats with spikes driven through the ends.

2. Protection: I would love to build a concrete gate perimeter around my house for protection. Steel burglar bars on the windows and board up the windows and place blankets on all the windows.

3. Lighting: Have a generator which I will only use in last case situations because generators make a lot of sounds which attract more zombies. Stock up on candles and if I was rich enough before hand I would install solar panels on the roof of my house in order to maintain electricity.

4: Medicinal: Keep medical supplies labeled, ready and on hand!

5: Exercise: I would do cardio and build my upper body strength to be able to pull myself up and over things.

6. Travel or loot through the town in midday. Zombies own the night.

7. Buy military grade equipment and backpacks, etc. Stuff that's meant to go through the rough stuff.

8. Be careful of vigilantes they will kill you more than a zombie would!

9. Water: Fill the pots and all containers and bathtubs with as much water as you can or get by a stream and set up a filtration system.

I know I'm forgetting some stuff post back later if I remember other things.

The key to winning the Zombie Apocalypse is stealth.

Oh! I forgot

food: keep canned foods and a lot of non perishable items and try to build a farm if possible so go to your local Garden nursery, Wal-mart etc..beforehand to buy lots of seeds.

DO NOT go to places like the mall or Wal-Mart EVERYONE is going there. If you have a large family only keep them safe don't try to have TOO many survivors with you. We don't need a mutiny.

Entertainment: keeps board games, puzzles, books, etc...to keep you entertained because the electricity will turn off eventually.

have an emergency hand cranked radio to keep up with the news.

Try to stock up on gas..even if it means you have to siphon other people's gas out their cars.

All it takes is a pickaxe, shovel, and time.

Next i'd find some survivors and have them farm whatever they can.

I'd politely explain my plan to them and ask them to choose between surviving and dying.

[/quote]This country retreat should be in the south so there's no winter.

I'd rather be in the dark than in the cold. Plus if you go south enough you get more moonlight.

If I had the time, me and the survivors could build a recon tower to signal others and have someone point out approaching zombies. He could also snipe them.
Do any of you have sniping experience?

Hopefully. If not, just AIM AND SHOOT. you'll pick up the experience soon.

I'd make sure to stock up on nonperishable food like cereal and ramen noodles.
Mmmm, Kay.

Yeah, don't see anything wrong with that. *Munching on ramen as he types this*

We have. 'Till then, grab a spear and shield and go spartan on those zombies. Speaking of spartans, I plan to eventually have 299 survivors excluding myself. Tonite we dine in hell?

Above all i'd stay away from man-made materials like guns, gasoline, etc because once it's gone, it's gone. use crossbows, solar panels and windmills for electricity, and other "Natural" survival methods.

Meant to put Factory-made. Natural is being built with your own hands and/or from very common items. We can build the windmills, and get the solar panels installed in the to-be-fort beforehand.

And, to satisfy electricity needs, hook up some bikes to generator turbines. People can pedal to produce electricity!
