So, uh, yeah, the title pretty much says it. Lots of topics turn into religion debates, so this is meant for that. Mine is Atheist. Feel free to oppose, but I'll oppose your post, too.
I have believed in Christianity from my own choice. I feel safe when I pray to God. I have gotten an answer to every prayer I have ever prayed to Him. I look in different beliefs and religions, and see less than what I see as a Christian. I am content with the belief I have, and it has given me much security. How do you know that you weren't brainwashed?
I have gotten an answer to every prayer I have ever prayed to Him.
Then ask him to appear in my house in corporeal form. Time frame specific it is now 4:30 pm let's give him about a half hour to get here so say from now til 5pm.
I said He has answered every prayer. I didn't say He has given me the answer I want. He sometimes answers yes, sometimes no, and sometimes, maybe or not yet.
i come from a religios family. my gradfather even was a priest in a local church for over 35 year or so. (he discarded his religion at the age of 74 because of all the proof against it that has been revealed during his life)
however my family has let me free to explore the world on my own. i never had to go to church to hear it's brainwashing talk. instead i learned about the different religions and science at a older age when i was already able to think logical and take my own conclusions and reasoning. (aka not blindly agreeing whit what other people (my parents) agree whit)
to partydevil, just like you are free to pick your own belief, so have I been. I chose Christianity because I saw the effect it had on other people's lives, and I wanted the same.
the difference is that (as you said yourself) have agreed whit it while being very young.
most likely your parents talked about religion alot and went to church whit you alot. and because you were still so young you adopted their believe. children are easy to bend to a surtian way of thinking. this has happend whit you. and i call it brainwashed. because that is what christianity does.
I said He has answered every prayer. I didn't say He has given me the answer I want. He sometimes answers yes, sometimes no, and sometimes, maybe or not yet.
In other words when a prayer isn't answer it's still answered? If I pray to my screwdriver I could say the same exact thing and have supposed 100% results in answers.
Unless your getting confirmation prior to the results it's not an answer.
Then why, I ask, do I accept it when I have a choice?
because youve been bend to the way of thinking used in the bibel. youve heared so much about it being the truth and the the only right thing. that you started to think so aswell.
good example for this is North-Korea. those people are all bend to the same way of thinking. including their (ex) leader being a god. and that he did the best for it's people (we all know beter then that, right?)
the same happend whit you when you were young and went to church often. and heared these story's about jesus.
