I know this could be a touchy subject, but I mean this thread to be more about learning about each other than anything else.

I'm English and I'm genuinely interested to learn of the racial stereotypes about the people I live and work around.

Please note, whilst I'm welcoming posts about racial stereotypes, I don't mean racial insults. For instance, a racial stereotype where I am is that those in the south of the USA tend to be less tolerant than those in the north. It isn't insulting, it is almost asking a question.

Fully appreciate that the mods may view this thread as a step too far.

I'm Canadian. (I use v for yes and x for false)

Canadians are polite, V.
Canadians love hockey, V.
Canadians love snow, V.
Canadians all say eh, X.
Canadians are weird, X.
Canadians love moose, X.

So I'm 50% stereotypical.
xD

Georgia: Black people who love cornbread, kool aid, watermelons, and fried chicken.

Dang! How'd you know.

If you think GA is full of black people, you haven't been to Atlanta... more specifically, Midtown Atlanta or Buckhead. More white people than you'd think... practically full of them.

As for Latin American Stereotypes

Brazilians love dancing and partying to the night
Columbian women are... like russian women... they are sold.
Columbian children can use a gun.
Peruvians like to use cocaine.
Ecuadorian blackouts.
Argentina is filled with gringos[i] (british, mainly)
Venezuelans... can I say... tanks, dictator, and oil?

Mexicans are dumb
Puerto Ricans are loud
Cubans are dumb and atheist, but still awesome
Most of central america is just... guns, dictator, drug trafficking.

I happily acknowledge the stereotype that the Northern Irish are all big drinkers & party animals. Truth behind the myth.... when you live in a city like Belfast there is nothing open after 5pm apart from pubs and clubs :-)

are you agreeing with the stereotype or with the fact that its a stereotype? beacuse the last time i checked im not a perfectionist (even though i wish i was) and i am not organized at all (Again, even though i wish i was).

The only racial stereotype I have ever found true in my own experience is that Asians are bad drivers. All of my accidents/bad moments have been with Asians. I live in Northern VA though and there are tons here. Still.

Just goes to show with the thread so far that racial stereotypes aren't unique to just one religion or race, we all view each other loosely based on stereotypes until we get to know each other.

Maybe there is a cross-over from this to the thread about Islamophobia.

None of the other racial stereotypes have a phobia, attached to them, whether it be race, creed or colour.

??? if there are tons there is natrual that most of the accidents would be by them... its like going to a video convention and asking who likes video games.

the one i found true (most of the times) is that the jews in israel from eastern races are more funloving, loud, impolite and bold while the jews from the west races are polite, smart and quiet.

islam is a religion and not a race so thats different too. there are many stereotypes about people that some people also have phobias from them

I'd already said earlier in that post:

Just goes to show with the thread so far that racial stereotypes aren't unique to just one religion or race, we all view each other loosely based on stereotypes until we get to know each other.

And as you stated:

None of the other racial stereotypes have a phobia, attached to them, whether it be race, creed or colour.

Why then would someone be classed as racist if they were Islamophobic? I've seen it mentioned time and time again, even though racist in that context doesn't follow the dictionary definition.

Not necessarily. Islamophobia is only given a name because it's considered wide-spread(though I've actually never met a person who is Islamophobic myself). Just because other phobias have not been named, certainly does not imply that they do not exist.
For that matter, there was a guy in this thread a few pages ago who said he was scared of Mormons because he thought they were all crazy. That qualifies as a phobia of a specific religion, does it not?

Mormonophobia? I don't know.

I'm genuinely struggling to think of another race or religion that has a phobia named after it, there is bound to be an obscure one, but I mean something in popular use (and I don't mean popular as in cheered on, I mean it as in used a lot)

Not so much arguing it doesn't exist, but that it is somewhat unique.

Found this thread enlightening though. I didn't know some of the stereotypes, but once they'd been written, I realised I'd seen them in some form in the media. Some are just plain funny though, particularly liked the one about the English being dragon killers, which makes my Armatar sadly ironic.
