Since Christianity FTW is a debate between christians and atheists I decided to make a new thread for a debate between christians and christians alone.

This is a debate between christian who have a different veiw of the bible, how to get to heaven, etc. It's about the types of christians and which ones are right and which ones are wrong. There are Roman Catholics, methodists, baptists, etc each with a different veiw of the bible.
This is a debate between the christians. State what type of christian you are and explain why you think being this type of christian is the right path.

To hahiha, the 10 COMMANDMENTS were COMMANDMENTS, not requirements. We are commanded to be upright, but it does not affect whether you go to Heaven or not.

I KNOW! That's not the point! The way you tell it, the commandments don't have any importance, being good doesn't have any importance; it's all just 'if you wish to, you could also do this and that...' So why do we even have them?

They were to keep order among the Israelites. They can keep order among us, too. We don't have to be good, but its the right thing to do.

Well, ok.. I guess there's no 100% satisfying answer to that so I'll leave it at that.

I just wonder, do you think that those commandments are necessary for people to be good? Because if it would be the case, then I'd understand your point better.
It's just that there are human tribes living a perfectly 'good' life, although they have never heard of the commandments. this for me further invalidates the need of the commandments..

But there are christian denominations, or at least certain people, who definitely see the commandments as strict guidelines, and they believe you have to live fully after them. I'm kinda glad you're not like that.

Like I said before, the commandments were created for the sole purpose of keeping order among the Israelites. They are just a good guideline for other people, too. They kind of bottom line it for you. Know what I mean?

To magegraywolf, that is your version of the Bible. I have the King James Version. I believe that although God has not come back yet, he will soon. The Bible says, "...He will come like a thief in the night..." meaning no man knows the time or the hour.

Doesn't matter, it's still saying the same thing. I'm pointing out that this prophecy of him coming back was suppose to have happened long ago and is clearly stated in the Bible as such. Your belief otherwise is meaningless. For the record I have a number of versions and use sites that contain numerous more so I can look at a number of versions at once. I just used NIV as it was the most accessible at the time.

(American King James Version)
1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

1 Corinthians 7:27-31
Are you bound to a wife? seek not to be loosed. Are you loosed from a wife? seek not a wife.
But and if you marry, you have not sinned; and if a virgin marry, she has not sinned. Nevertheless such shall have trouble in the flesh: but I spare you.
But this I say, brothers, the time is short: it remains, that both they that have wives be as though they had none;
And they that weep, as though they wept not; and they that rejoice, as though they rejoiced not; and they that buy, as though they possessed not;
And they that use this world, as not abusing it: for the fashion of this world passes away.

1 John 2:18
Little children, it is the last time: and as you have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.

Matthew 10:23
But when they persecute you in this city, flee you into another: for truly I say to you, You shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come.

Matthew 16:27-28
For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.
Truly I say to you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

Matthew 24:34
Truly I say to you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

Mark 13:30
Truly I say to you, that this generation shall not pass, till all these things be done.

Luke 21:32
Truly I say to you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.

If this isn't the specific King James Version you're using (There are other King James Bibles) then give me that specific one and I will pull the same **** quote from that one as well.

I have said many times before, but I will say it again. You believe what you want, and I'll believe what I want. End of story.

As I have said you are not entitled to your own facts. Your beliefs deny facts and are even counter to them and thus are wrong.

your beliefs have just painted you to be an ignorant fool. reread what you have posted. the commandments were put out for the israelites, I'll give you that, but they were meant for all who believed in god to follow. what you are saying is that they are only suggestions, and that we don't need to follow them. that goes strictly against what jesus taught.

the second one was how you said you can do whatever you want, and if you pray on your deathbed, they will all dissappear. do you seriously think god is so easily conned like that if he exists?

If you pray to God, and actually mean it, he will save you and give you eternal life in Heaven. And, don't call me an ignorant fool, you moron.

Many of us who don't believe once did and have honestly prayed and meant it.

I did once, and do you know what I got for it? I got a shattered belief, and a hatred for those who are still so ignorant as to not pay attention to the real facts, and accept that there is no afterlife.

I'm glad someone made a thread about this. Anyways.... I am a Pentecostal. So I think baptists aren't really Christians. They don't really believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

I believe in contemporary praise and worship(I play keybord in a band at my church). I believe you can't really worship God with hyms.
