Since Christianity FTW is a debate between christians and atheists I decided to make a new thread for a debate between christians and christians alone.

This is a debate between christian who have a different veiw of the bible, how to get to heaven, etc. It's about the types of christians and which ones are right and which ones are wrong. There are Roman Catholics, methodists, baptists, etc each with a different veiw of the bible.
This is a debate between the christians. State what type of christian you are and explain why you think being this type of christian is the right path.

It's moving the goalpost if the metaphorical interpretation is in response to something in the Bible being disproven. This argument is sounding like guilt by association to me.

Prior to the 18th century everything in the Bible was regarded as literally happening. With the possible exception of the stories Jesus would tell, since they were the only things clearly marked as parables. But this was regarded as real event of someone telling stories.

SO, this thread, like every other thread that has to do with Christianity, was to discuss it, and then people told the Christians that their faith was false. And now it is ranting, arugeing, and just randomly telling people there wrong. I sense in the near future, this post will be quoted, with a smarmy comment posted about it, probably telling me something about how the reason people are saying Christianity is false is because it is. But anyways, im a Christian. Im a protestant. And im a baptist. I go to a catholic school so that i may learn more about my "sisters" in faith(Speaking of, close to, but not exact, similarities). And also because it is a private school, and thus is believed to provide better education. I'll probley post some other things here later, but for now, im just dropping in.

Oh, we can come up with much better reasons then "Just because".

Well that's good. I would recommend not stopping there, go check out other denominations as well, you got over 34,000 to work with. Go attend their church services, read the different versions of the Bible for your self.

Why stop at Christianity too?

I don't hate it. I don't think it's true, and I don't think the mind-sets it gives people is good, and I don't like how it can be used as a tool to control people like sheep, or how it creates blind devotion, but I don't hate it.

I only argue it when it's there :P I don't start the arguments. I just point out when religious people claim something based on their religion that it doesn't have any ground to it from that claim. I also get very annoyed that it's apparently okay to evangelize in the name of God, but not in the name of reason in the eyes of the religious. Everyone makes such a big deal out of Atheists apparently "hating" religion, but do we go door to door advertising it? Do we put up adds on billboards? Do we dedicate entire BUILDINGS specifically made to get our point across? Double standard much?

So yeah. Off topic...

Why stop at Christianity too?

I think everyone should learn about what's out there as much as they can.

First off, we answer only when religious people preach to us. Many of us turn atheist because of incessant god-related hysterics.

Secondly, we can rant, because it's freedom of speech. You don't need to listen to us.

Good point, check out other religions as well.

I could add all the stuff people do in it's name/because of the indoctrination that they otherwise wouldn't do. Much of which is extremely harmful. Though we already have a thread going over the problems with religions.

This doesn't refute what I said, it just makes a generalization.

How is it a generalization? It was all considered literal then it was disproven so instead of calling it literal it was called a metaphor. To say "it's just a metaphor" one would have to be going on this mentality because it all stems from being a response to something in the Bible being disproven.

Shown to be false, wrong, erroneous, incorrect, to be incorrect, to be in refute, rejected as true.

For example it's been disproven (shown to be false) that a global flood occurred due to a lack of water to generate such a flood and a lack of geological evidence supporting one took place.

But how would they be able to prove it wrong? I happened thousands of years ago. And there are no eye witnesses. They can say it probably didn't happen but nobody who was there is alive now.

I'm not talking historic events that have been written down in reccords and proven, like the revolutionary war for example.
