According to you creationism is belief in a creator, correct?
According to the free online dictionary religion is the following,
Belief in and reverence for a supernatural power or powers regarded as creator and governor of the universe.
where I bolded the important part. I'm sure where you can see that thus believing in creationism is inherently believing in a religion, even if you don't necessarily consider it such religion is an inherent part of that belief.
Maybe he did, and maybe you only think that Christianity and other major religions count as religions. However, by supporting Creationism you have to either A) Accept and believe in one or more of these religions literal interpretations, or B) Create your own religion wherein you follow a literal interpretation of your new beliefs in the creator of your imagination. Both of these options fly in the face of your goal earlier of trying to present creationism in a non-religious context simply because it can't be done as creationism is inherently religious.
WE can convince someone something he/she does not want to be convinced up (read: Drace). WE've both proven our point in flawless logic multile times. WE've provided definitions and citations. But if Drace still doesn't want to agree that you can't believe in Creationism without the religious aspect after all this, there is nothing we can do and continuing our argument is pointless. It's best if we just let him look foolish in the eyes of the more educated and leave it at that.
Well, what always gets me is that scientists LOVE odds, and yet when it is pointed out that there is a one in a trillion (or something like that) chance of things working out as well as they did, they'll just say, "Well, we're very lucky, aren't we?" The only reason scientists hate Creationism is because there are no statistics in it, only faith.
The probability of the universe turning out the way it did is exactly 1, since the event has already happened. Saying that its current state is improbably and therefore must have had guidance assumes that we have any idea of how to calculate this probability (which clearly we don't) and it presupposes that our current universe was somehow made for our existence, which begs the question of a creator anyway.
