This thread is for me to post my art, mainly drawings.
So you guys just sit back and enjoy, and please feel free to make a comment. My first piece is something I usually do to warm-up.

Aw, Bronze, want some crits?
(It might not do good, it's hard giving critiques to people that are around or above yourself in skill, after all)

May 29:
A good use of colour, it highlights the subject in an interesting and unusual manner, though it doesn't blend well with the pencil lines.
The hair might use a little work, even though, for a picture of this type, it might be enough to make the facial features stand out. I assume the ear isn't shaded up properly for the same reason.
You could possibly have exaggerated the shadows a little some places to give the picture more depth, along the collar a deeper shadow would have made the neck/skin/face be more distinct, and same thing about the hair/ear.
The scar(?) is a little too... Much? It springs to eye, but mostly because it doesn't seem to fit the rest of the picture.

May 17:
I really like the way the shadow looks against the grass. It's a good concept and composition, and the choice of colour is again rather well chosen. The only two things that spring to mind is the way the clouds look, many of them have that rather hard line of blue on the top side of them, and it looks a little offputting. The grass also comes off a little distracting somehow with the long lines of colour, instead of a blend of colours and vague illusion of detail that grass from a distance have.
I do (as I believe I have done before) recommend you try out some watercolour pencils, as I think you could do amazing feats with them, and they blend rather well, even without use of colour. At the very least, these pencils would have helped out unifying the colouring a little, making the sky look smooth and alive, and giving the grass a different kind of structure, that could either have been left as it was, or could be used as a base for something else.

Also, I forget, but which type of pencils do you use? Regular HB?

I plan on getting the AG users group on deviantart back in business, we've let it sit around for to **** long. If you're interested in joining *looks at Cen* let me know. In the meantime I guess I'll keep posting here.

Perhaps later.

Ooooooh crits lol. Maybe you should reopen the art contest since you seem to be in the mood. And hell, I'm not that good man, so any contructive criticism is welcome.

I'm not good at improvising my own shading. In this case, the game art had very little shading, and I tried to exaggerate where I could. I learned early on that that was a weakness of mine. I remember how my still lifes in art class came out so light, and I'd would just tell the teacher that there wasn't any drak areas lol. Everything after the face was rushed, so you're pretty spot on with everything.

I really like the way the shadow looks against the grass

Really? I was afraid I would ruin everything when I committed to it.

You're right about everything else of course. It sounds like I gotta get some wc pencils.

Perhaps later

I wouldn't worry about it, no one gives a crap about it lol.

I'll see what I can do. I don't know when I'll get to it though.

You need to use a photo hosting site, bud. Here, read this link .

Perhaps in the fall. I am under a bit of pressure right now.
And you are good. We are not in the same fields of style, so it might be that, but I do think you are both talented and skilled.

@May29:
That is bothersome somehow, yes, but perhaps you should take to using shading as a way of emphasising your subjects. Take a vacation from the trouble of referencing, and be a bit imaginative about the art. Then perhaps I shall take your spot and learn some referencing/realism. I do need it for my animation course.
I don't know what else to say. But taking a step past the reference might work out for you, even if rushing. And well, as mentioned, it does draw attention towards the face, which is a good point of interest.

Really? I was afraid I would ruin everything when I committed to it.

It works surprisingly well, and would be precisely that type of menacing shadow a young hero would ride through on his journey towards the temple in the sky.

It sounds like I gotta get some wc pencils.

They are fun, and I at least think my pencils were worth the money.
If nothing else, they give out a whole lot of colour, so they are pretty good for finishing touches when something needs to stand out more.

I wouldn't worry about it, no one gives a crap about it lol.

Needs more of an effort, eh?
I will consider it, but, well, at the moment dA doesn't really interest me much past looking at other people's master pieces and so forth.

I'd love to see it, and you could atleast count on one participant.

I'd love to see you go for something realistic, would you start a whole new art thread to show it? And you wanna see something from my imagination? Are you sure you want to see want comes from my mind? lol

They are all hand drawn, 2"x2" panels. I'm gonna color some of them.

OH. The difference in value for the truck is really nice. I'm wondering though, why is there a line through the middle of it? Is it cut in half?

It's an old cast iron toy truck; that's just how it was made I guess.

I love the detail you put into the lighthouse! I mean, I like to draw, but I can never take the time to add that much detail. Great job!
