This is the official Crush the Castle 2 Players Pack contest. You've come to the right place.

You're probably wondering how this contest works. Basically, we (the three judges) give you a theme at the beginning of each round, and you, the contestant, build a castle that follows the theme in some way. Then, so we can count your castle as an entry, take the link to that castle and post it in this thread. If it isn't posted in this thread by the deadline (and the deadline will always be a specific date and time), we will not be able to count it as an entry for that round.

If you've never built a castle before, or you want to brush up on your building skills, check out this guide made by @Arm_Candy.

This is a weekly contest, so each round will last 5 days, with 2 days being designated for judging. Every week, the theme will change and a new round will begin. Pretty easy to grasp.

Oh, and the winner of each round receives a merit, a spot in the CTC2PP Hall of Fame, and a rare quest that can only be earned through winning (or judging) a level building contest:

-------------------------------------------------------------
RULES
Yes, there are rules. What did you expect?

Basic rules for this contest, written originally by @PrivatePapi for his old CTC contest:
1. Do not spam under any circumstance.
2. Only enter 1 castle for each category.
3. Do not ask either of us which category will be next.
4. Do not copy somebody else's castle if you do not have permission from him/her.
5. When entering for the contest, always submit your castle according to the current category.
6. Have fun!

And this section, written by @FishPreferred:
a) All entries must be playable and have at least 1 person in them. It seems obvious, but who knows?
b) Entries that are so overladen with stuff that they cause considerable lag will not be eligible. Considerable lag is herein defined as "a big freakin' pile of lag that renders an entry virtually unplayable without severely overheating my 3 year old computer".
c) Entries should be stable enough to last a full minute without collapsing, and should require at least one shot in order to be won. This applies to every part of the contest that doesn't explicitly state otherwise in its instructions.
d) Any entry which the judges deem to be inappropriate (in a lewd, indecent, or libellious sense) will be disqualified, and most likely deleted by the admin.

And lastly, a few additional notes added by yours truly:
- The only castles you are allowed to post in this thread are contest entries. If you link to more than one castle, only the most recent one will be treated as an official entry, unless otherwise specified.
- All entries must be built specifically for the contest and for the current theme. You can't submit castles that you entered in previous rounds, or anything that was built before the beginning of the current round.

Looks like a lot of rules, but it's all intuitive. You'll have no trouble following these guidelines.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Optional: CODE
Some architects like to take things a step further and modify castle codes to do things that otherwise wouldn't be possible in the regular editor mode. This method will not give you a significant advantage over other contestants, but it may be of interest if you want to play around with the editor a bit. Code modification is not a requirement for this competition.

How to modify castle codes by @SSTG.

If you don't modify castle codes or have any plans to in the future, you can skip over this next part.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR CODERS: If you decide to use code-modified elements in an entry, take caution, for, although code-editing can be useful for certain details, excessive use of code-modified elements in an entry could lead to a deduction of points from the entry.
-------------------------------------------------------------
That's the contest in a nutshell. Just remember to check back every week for the results of each round, as well as the theme for the next round. I will post the theme for the first round after this post ends, so as not to confuse first-time submitters in the future.

And if you have any ideas for future themes, contact @CourtJester or myself or post your theme idea in the thread.

That certainly was a lot of words. Over 700 of them. It may seem like a lot to take in, but this contest is all about having fun, despite all these large blocks of text.

So get hyped, get building, and have fun with it!

Did I mention there's a merit prize to the winner of each round?

@DracoMaleficus - I will extend the time for you to submit. Not a problema! Just have it there before 10 MDT Thursday. That's 11 CDT! That is when I will get to the office after my meeting and submit to the judges.

And the votes are in my CTC2PP friends @Arm_Candy @DrElmer @ObieOdie @BigJoeTheMighty

1. Treasure Lord's Estate by Arm_Candy

2. SPANK THE MONKEY! by OdieObie

3. Ugly Townhouse by DrElmer

4. Volcanic Stronghold by BigJoeTheMighty

Congratulations Arm_Candy!

Anyone want to suggest a theme for the next round? I might add that @DracoMaleficus was banned for 3 days and subsequently deleted his account in frustration! Oh well, nothing we can do but look for more builders!

Sorry I effed up on that last round...forgot to read the rules..my bad...may I suggest the next theme? Elements...can only use fire, ice, and electricity to destroy the castle, and the castles should be themed in some way by the elements.

Methinks that is not a bad idea @BigJoeTheMighty, elements only, Fire, Ice, Eels and Acid. Lemme think about it for a bit. The castle should actually be a structure. Any other comments @Arm_Candy, @DrElmer and @ObieOdie?

I was thinking just fire ice and eels. I personally don't like acid cause it makes destroying a castle too easy in my opinion...but you guys are the boss! I'm glad to contribute!

Elements are always great. We could have the option to use acid because some castles can be built to accommodate it without it being too easy.

Actually, I just made one that cannot be destroyed by acid but acid is needed. Not only acid but fire and eels as well. Still working on it to make it fool proof. Remember @BigJoeTheMighty, If you pass an element thru an element in a structure, acid will not catch the passed element. By the way, these are Potions and not elements. I like it already! @CourtJester - What is your verdict?

I think it is a great idea - potions only! It must at least be a structure made of the elements (wood, stone, metal, ice or, just parts). All potions can be used, fire, ice, eels, acid. Now here is the trick - terrain should be involved - no flat surfaces. The panel of my judges only vote yay or nay and usually rate them as per placement. What I do is count the placements and add them up and the lowest number wins however, this time, an incentive, 1 point each for every potion that you use that ACTUALLY HAS TO BE USED to win. Believe me, I will test them however, on Wednesday, I am flying to Orlando for a week so get your entries in early. Minimum 2 shots to win, Maximum 4.

I use 4 judges so, with 4 contestants, the worst you can get is a score of 16, the best is 4. With the incentive package, these numbers are subtracted from your score so, it is actually possible to get a 0! I have internet in Orlando so, I will be checking in! I will also adjust the incentive numbers based on the number of contestants that enter

Do you guys agree to the terms? @Arm_Candy, @DrElmer, @ObieOdie, @BigJoeTheMighty, @Treb_Crusher, @GeoffreyXIV, @pa4o - feel free to use the call-out to get more people!

no flat surfaces.

This just means that the terrain has to be edited, right? As in, parts of the terrain can be flat as long as they are not all at the same elevation.

It doesn't have to be edited but, that usually helps. @Arm_Candy

We need to work on terrain levels as part of the game plan just to show the versatility of the game and the editor. You don't have to work with an editor like notebook but, it usually helps to allow you to set your elements. But, the key is that many builders don't realize how to edit outside the editor. For instance, if you raise the land to 230, the foundations miss the top by 10 pixels. And, if you hit a 5, you need to use a pos to level it out because @joeybetz didn't allow double two decimals in his formulas! **** - I can do it but need the editor to make it happen. In the original CTC, I could use multiple decimal points to make my stuff work! For instance, X is limited to 2 and multiplied by 20 = 40 pixels maximum width. Y, on the other hand is a multiple of 10 so, 1 = 100 pixels. 0.9 is 90 but you cannot input 0.95!

Yet, he has parts that are like 47 high, 25 high etc. It makes for difficult building to make all the parts fit!

So here are some tricks!

Ground 0 is not 0 but it is -0.8. That is why when you put a foundation above the ground and an element below that is 80 pixels - it tries to squirm outta that mess. Methinks it is the line he has drawn for the ground. I have a template level that makes the ground -0.8 so I can play with it.

Secondly, the parts/elements never touch each other. Otherwise, they would stick and you wouldn't be able to break them apart and, well, I try to avoid any horizontal elements higher than five on top of each other because they just get unstable mabel!

Some of the elements are totally unstable including angled foundations, arches and turrets.

I will give you more Arm_Candy when you put up your thread but one thing is important, if you "settle" your castle too many times, it will go out of whack. Settle only if you have to and be quick. Check the settings of all you components to see if they are square. One of the best level makers who's name escapes me, NEVER settled his stuff Just sayin' But the important thing is to test and test often! Then save your stuff, leave the editor and come back and load it again to see if it works.

I want to be a part of this competition, however I've seen what people have made and I know that I am at a disadvantage due to my inexperience, so to gain a slight edge, I spent hours playing and studying castles in this competition, mostly winning ones, to see if it could help me improve my building skills. This castle I built may not be the kind of craftsmanship that wins this contest, however my main focus this round was to build something that worked every time it was done properly, not only while I was testing it but also after I shared it. Even if I don't win, I think I succeeded in my mission to create something that does what it's supposed to do, even if I'm up hours later than I should be.

@DeathstormKnight take a closer look! Dead Jesters on iron knock down towers when TNT explode with fire. Ooops, gotta get rid of one castle first because it is in the way! You have 3 weapons and you need to use them all to win!
