Alright, so two people can touch eachother, and Al Gore isn't a terrorist. But I refuse to stop arguing with people that are smarter than me until I can win.

This was inspired by an episode of the television show, The Moment of Truth. A paramedic was asked if fat people repulsed him, his answer was yes. This led me to question whether fat people repulsed me, my conclusion is for myself only but it has led me to more questions, mainly, are the obese immoral?

I am sure everyone can say, that they believe that allowing another person to starve to death, specifically children, is immoral, or, not conforming to the patterns of conduct usually accepted or established as consistent with principles of personal and social ethics.

A normal adult consumes 2427 calories a day, 18% less than an obese adult.

Since a baby needs 100 calories a day, every second day an obese person is effectively responsible for the death of a baby in a third world country. That is 182 babies every year. People are given the death penalty, for many less than that.

Sorry for double post.

When I conceded the part about people pursuing athletic goals and people with thyroid problems was in a later post.

Well...it happened...at some point. Too lazy to find it =P

If you look at the first post I am specifically pointing the finger at people who eat excessively for no reason other than they like to eat excessively

it is their decision how much they want to eat. and if someone enjoys eating a lot i can understand that.
i mean do you want to have people discussing what you shall do in your time or not?
i certainly don't. i want to live in freedom and choose the things i do and enjoy myself.

so leave the obese people obese if they enjoy themselves.
they willingly choose to be obese or not(even if changing the decision is pretty hard especially if you go from obese to slim).

if you are a tall quite muscular guy who exercise 5-7 days w week you will have no problem consuming 3.000-3.500 calories a day.
wheareas a guy who sits in front of the tv all day eating the same amount of food, will quickly gain weight.

Let me tell you an interesting fact michael phelps eats drum roll please 12,000 calories A DAY if atheletes and people with thyroid problems arent immoral for doing it why should anyone else be?

Because they don't do it because they like the taste of chocolate. Someone with thyroid problems does it because they have a disease and must. Someone pursuing athletic goals is pushing the boundaries of the human endurance.

Michael Phelps just broke the 50 second barrier in swimming. Long considered to be quite impossible. Only with those 12,000 calories a day and new swimsuit technology was he able to perform that feat.
Much dfferent from liking the taste of chocolate.

i never said obese people are immoral.

there are some people who really eat excessivley, being thin or fat.
but the majority of overweight people consumes an inadequate amount for their body not in general.
especially since athlets consume most food of all.

the example was just there to prove this point

why is it wrong to like chocolate?

if someone likes sports than let him do it. if someone likes eating than let him do it to.
why are you so concerned about waht other people do

So discaplining yourself your whole life while eating excessively and according to you taking callories from people in other countries is okay because it's so they can think they look good. But eating excessively because you like the food is somehow invalid compared to that...

let's say hypothetically a new study came out that being on a computer slightly blurs your vision. should computers be outlawed now or is it your own fault?

as long as they aren't breaking any current laws i think people should be incharge of their own life.. free to become fat or athletic if they want to

Why so serious?

Man, it's just a discussion.

Maybe you should read my profile =P *hint*

Alright I will answer the question. There is nothing wrong with liking chocolate. I think you understand I was not talking about people who just like to eat some chocolate once in a while

And I DON'T think people should be able to live any way they want too. Polygamy is illegal for a reason...

Although I think it should be legal...NEVERMIND I was just making a point about how peoples choices in life are taken away in other ways *coughgaymarriagecough*

I can't pretend I understand what the point you're trying to make is.

So discaplining yourself your whole life while eating excessively and according to you taking callories from people in other countries is okay because it's so they can think they look good. But eating excessively because you like the food is somehow invalid compared to that...

I didn't really understand this either...I just...can't read it.

well polygamy is illegal.
could be legal yeah why not, but noone stops you from just having as many girlfriends beside your wife as you wish. and cheating is not illegal.

same is with gay couples. the discussion is no longer about what they can do but how you call it.

and according to the topic. if it is wrong if obese people eat a lot, then why is it not wrong if athletic people eat the same amount?
sure they use it for gaining athletic achievements, but the world is not a better place because someone can swim really fast

You have a point. The only difference is that sports players are healthier and aren't going to become a burden to society as easily.

I've always wondered why sports are regarded so highly though. What makes the football jocks think that they're so much better than the kid who can get straight A's? Brains > brawn in my opinion.
