*Facepalm* There is no such thing as free health care.
Capitalism makes more sense than anything. First off, we advance much quicker. Secondly, we actually have an economy. Sure it goes up and down, but everything does. When it's up life is good, when it's down, we have to wait it out. The fact is, it's up more than down. So I'm on capitalism's side.

Whether you like it or not, capitalism always fails without some sort of socialist reform. Russia had fastest leap in technology and industrialization under a totally restrictive economy. In fact it became a superpower. That is a testament to how much you really need capitalism just to become a great nation. And besides, Russia's population went down by half of a million after it became capitalist.
Welfare is okay. I think they should have mandatory drug testing to receive your welfare though. And I don't think bailouts are the best either. If you fail, you fail. If companies know for sure they will not get any free money, they will do their best to not get to that point, instead of waiting to see whther the government will throw money at them.
Socialized health care is a pretty okay deal. It would be nice to have a health and happy nation.
Of course, you need a good mixture of choice and freedom mixed in with a few things provided to you by the government. A good mixture is always better than sticking stubbornly to one side.

assuming the 140 millions inhabitans, half a million seems to be pretty normal according to emmigration and stuff.
Russia had fastest leap in technology and industrialization under a totally restrictive economy.
other countries did this without socialism or economical restrictions on that scale. and they didnt limit development to the weapons and heavy industry while people where dying out of starvation.
and finding as many "volontary" workers as stalin did, it is no wonder they developed good
They had the biggest leap, because it basically started in the dirt. If you want quality technological innovation, you NEED competition. And this is only possible with capitalism. I'm all for technological innovation as that is the base of my future and that is why i prefer a more capitalistic society.
Yes but it's still flawed epecially for those people capitalism doesn't work. If socialism worked I'd go with it but other wise you don't have much to choose from.
Wow you guys need to not leave out major facts! It went down by half because of the revolution, and because it became capitalist, people were not oppressed and free to leave and got the heck out of that country lol.

1. Name one failed capitalist society.
2. Russia didn't have the fastest, we did. We developed everything first then they stole it and copied it. So they didn't advance really any on their own.
i am for capitalism, heres some diferences between the two
capitalism - a lot less taxes than socialism -a more free way too live in witch you absolutely control capital
Socialism - A social country where you pay more taxes too help people that you dont know if they deserve it. - the government has more control over you and over social places like hospitals. - worse healthcare and longuer lines(direct quote from a doctor)
Well yes, it is an achievement, it was only a stunt to scare. Most of the things they did were meant to scare America and were over glorified by the media. They were for the most part impractical with little to no use.
