They have new versions now even. The AK102. It is the latest version, with a improved stock, better precision, and with modern and cheaper materials. Its being adapted by Numerous forces now.

The only reason they should change it is because it's been around 60 years, but it still matches today's weapons, being easy to fire, load,
but not aim, but it is very cheap.

Why would they? Its the greatest gun ever created. Its a piece of metal with a piece of wood on it, and its the most powerful, most reliable automatic weapon created. Its so cheap to make and buy also.

Exactly, and Mihail Kalashnikov is still testing newer versions of the AK47, though I think they should keep it 7.62 not a 5.56 thats ridiculous.

are you serious? i would rather have an accurate m16a2 then a strong, but WAY unaccurate ak47. the m16a2 is revolutionary because of its accuracy and it has power. im pretty sure it has more bullets per clip too and that can save your life

Are you kidding me!? The m16 is the worst weapon of all time! It jams like crazy on full auto, and it's not even reliable! If you try hit somebody with it it will break! Plus if you go to Iraq you can see how m16's jam cause of the sandstorms there, but if you look at the Iraq's you can see how their AK47's work fine. Not only that, but he m16 has terrible fire power. I've seen one fired, and it cant even go through a tree. So how is it so great!?

I think that production should be stopped, or at least only sold to richer countries. The Avtomat Kalashnikova, or AK-47's, are the tools of the trade for pirates in South Africa, and even though they could probably use any weapon, the AK-47 is used because it is the best for the job there.

Selling it only to richer countries with low levels of crime, piracy, etc. would cause less damage. Besides, in a war, it's more effecive to use an A-bomb or 2. They seem less "humane", but gunning people down doesn't really make that much of a difference.

They should stop producing them for purposes other than marketing and start making the more accurate AK-74 rifles. The AK-47 is a great weapon for third world nations, but technology calls for more accurate firearms in some enviroments.

Very true, which why Kalashnikov should keep firepower of AK74. I hate those 5.62mm bullets, it's quite irratating to have a gun that was supposed to be better into something that would be like an m16, but then again if he keeps the firepower it would just end up like an m14.

It's not a machinegun, it's an assault rifle actually, and what's wrong with the recoil it's not that bad. Especially since it was made 63years ago.
