It's actually more difficult to make them darker before scanning, than just getting a good scanner and a decent program to adjust the image.

As I wrote, it was my girlfriend who drew it, I only coloured. She draws somewhat animelike most of the time.
And yes, drawn on lined paper.

Still your art impresses me, and your GF's art is very nice as well. What job are you looking forward to? Is that a Mazzelh crawling into his shirt as well as on top of his head? Man, saying GF's made me want to play Metroid Prime 3 -epic voice- Corruption! (GF = galactic federation)

It would be better if the colors were a little brighter, but it's good.

His hair is bright red and her fur is bright green~ It's not my fault he likes to wear non-bright clothes... >.> Also, it's a slightly old pic and the screen I had was a bit funky.

Now get back on topic! Mazzelhs, not how I colour. And yes, I do insist on writing it with a u.

I insist with writing a u too...problem is, it looks weird with the red line under it...lol.
And yeah, not your fault, it's the scanners.
