No, that is ridiculous.
You mess up in a plane, you go doun.
You mess up in a car, 7 people go down.

You mess up in a plane, you have 3,000 feet to catch yourself
You mess up in a car well...

Your engine fails in a plane, you glide to earth.
Your engine fails on earth you crash.

Anybody can get a licence, but a pilot's licence takes hours of flight time.

In a car, there is no control tower...

an airplane is alot safer..i agree u have more time to prevent death unlike a car where a car crash is sudden and deadly in most occasions

I don't know which one is more dangerous, but driving a car is a whole lot scarier. This is just me talking because I've had a few scary experiences lately.

They never make a movie about a car crashing? How about "Crash"? Came out about 3 years ago and stars Don Cheadle.

And planes can land even if there are problems, I've read stories of a plane landing without a wing, another with an engine blown out.

But back to the topic. There is research that indicates planes are safer than cars, per mile traveled. (i.e. you are less likely to die or be injured if you fly from NY to Miami than if you drive). Planes can seem more dangerous because of the height, because we have no control as a passenger, and because one plane crash is usually more devastating than one car crash.

Just heard this morning on Good Morning America that the chance of a being in a plane accident (not just a crash) is 1 in 11 million. They brought this up because of that plane trying to land in Germany.

Look at this
http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0FKE/is_4_47/ai_86504189

This arcticle is wee written, even though i still think you can't compare plane accidents with car accidents. indeed, when you're IN a plane, the probability for you to die from an airplane crash is WAY higher than the probability for you to die in a car crash (it occurs the other way around also, so you can't really compare both)

I often heard people say " you have more risks of being attacked by a shark than dying in an airplane crash"
but it is completely false and irrelevant to compare both

This isn't exactly on topic, but my great uncle survived a plane crash in the early 90s. Half of the passengers died.

Oh noes! That makes shark attacks sound more common Calm... Sharks are friends! They are really very nice fish... they just get a little curious from time to time when they can't see properly! But to put that one into perspective, you are more likely to die from a coconut falling out of a tree than be attacked by a shark. Many people are scared to go in the water because of sharks, but they don't realize how incredibly small the chances are!

And that is a very interesting article, it definitely helps to put it into perspective!

If sharks were combined with airplanes, we would all be screwed. I have seen big sharks in water, big zombie sharks, huge sharks that eat Samuel L. Jackson..and they were all pretty freaking scary. But put even a small shark in a plane? Chaos! And hope to god it does not learn to fly. Even though it might be hard with their silly little flippers...

I forgot my original point. Oh well. Atleast you have some food for thought.

Well, there are land sharks. Yes, they actually beach themselves and crawl on land to get food. The next evolutionary step is actually an airline pilot - they evolved around 10 Million years ago (unfortunately there were no airplanes for them to fly, so they were quite bored). And it wouldn't be that hard for a shark to become zombified, either.

We have all played the Resident Evil series right? What do you mean no? Go. Play it now. All of them, at once. Then come back and talk to me.

For the rest of you: You know what I am talking about. That zombie shark was crazy. If some mutagenic substance got into a watersupply, it would spread like wild fire. So many organisms...

Wow. Talk about off-topic. Zombies almost need their own topic...I blame Carlie for talking about sharks. ^_^

Moegreche, that IS the only logical process for evolution to take. Land shark to airplane pilot I mean.

Totally off topic with the sharks still I know... and I apologize. But if any of you play D&D, you would recognize the Land Shark (AKA Bulette).
