I saw yet another video of a group of protestors burning the American flag. The disgust me! Please tell me someone else out here agrees that it is wrong and should be illegal.

every peaceful situation they bring about is pulled back

Actually there was one case, but that waswhat any right-minded person would do. First (2004-2008) there was a left-winged party ruling. That meant that the leaders of the govorment wanted peace no matter the price, like giving the hermon, the highest mountain, very great for sniping also, for peace with syria. In 2007 a israili soldier was kidnaped. Israilis value the lives of their people highly. The left-winged govorment gave known hamas terrorist to the palestinians by the thousands in hope of returning the soldier. When a right-winged party won the elections in 2008, they refused to release 5 terrorists with ~150 life sentences in total among them, for the soldier.

So in America is not illegal to burn an american flag?
Here in Italy for burning the italian flag, you get 2 years of jailtime.
Or a HUGE fine, that's it.

@wexmajor: that sucks but then again I've never seen someone in America burning the flag...

I've seen about two posts so far on how murder should be okay since all you're doing is expressing your feelings to them....we're allowed the right to free speech, assembly and all that jazz aslong as it doesn't INFRINGE on the rights of another person. By killing that person, corny as it is, you're infringing on their right to life.

Meh, the burning of the flag is symbolic - whether it be hatred of the government of that country, the people of that country or something else entirely. People should have the freedom of expression and therefore should have every right to burn whoevers silly flag/money/map they wish.

i think it is wrong. as a flag symbolizes a country/group/idea, then burning it symbolizes the country burning. basically taking the rights given to you and then overstretching it.BUT it can also mean burning the old obsolete ideals of a country to make new ones.

It's distasteful in the least. Burning of any countries flag, by anyone. But hey, freedom of speech. Go ahead. I'm not protecting you if somebody shoots you, so don't even call for help.

Why should it be treated any differently than the expression of any other unpopular opinion?

I agree to that completly it says it all, if the flag that your burning is your homelands flag, it's different though if your from South Korea and burn North Korea's flag.

That's a horrible arguement and the worst one I've ever seen, seeing as destroying a flag doesn't include destroying a soul, family or friend. Destroying someone with a soul, and probably a family and friend(s) is way different.

oh boy i have allways wanted to talk about this. In elementary school there was some even dont remember what but they were pulling up the flag and it slipped out of their hands and slid towards teh ground and everyone gasped and a few people screamed. In my head i am like "WTF is the deal". Then back in the class room someone asked about it and the teacher told us we would have to burn it if it touched the ground. The "WTF" came back. I really dont understand the big deal, you are supposed to automatically love the country you are born in? You dont get to choose where you are born.

Overall i Love my country and Hate it at the same time.

Sub, that is the legal thing you do as a sign of respect, pretty much the opposite thing that this thread is about...
