I saw yet another video of a group of protestors burning the American flag. The disgust me! Please tell me someone else out here agrees that it is wrong and should be illegal.
Heh. In my country a MINISTER says every day that the national flag should be put in the toilet. (of course he don't put in the toilet the huge salary the state gives him.)
Yeah but there are loads of old laws that no one has gotten rid off that no one enforces. My sister once did a presentation on them once and there is still a law in England saying that each man much do 1 hour of archery practice everyday.
It's much cheaper to simply not enforce old laws than it is to get rid of them - I should imagine there's a lot of stuff to do in Parliament besides talk about the good ol' archery law and whether it might be possibly about time that we could maaaaybe possibly get rid of it? Please? I mean, seriously, who even practices Archery an- sorry, sorry, kind of went off on a tangent there.
Yeah but my point was that while there might be laws about not desecrating flags they might've been made by nazis and just haven't been removed so no one will actually enforce them.
I guess the reason why the law exists to protect the dignity of German and foreigners. I think burning the Quran in Germany would have serious consequences because there are many Muslims here. I think the law shall protect people from (senseless) religious conficts.
Make flag burning illegal, and more people will do it, to protest the original illegalization (is that a word?) Anyways, it's freedom of speech, whether we like it or not. But still, why live in this country? move to Cuba
Move to Cuba? Is that your argument for everything?
Maybe people also hate Cuba. Maybe the reason why people protest in general, is because they hate to see their country in a state which they believe is bad. Or maybe it's because they could could care less about borders and fabrics, liberty of people is more important than any allegiance to any country.
Which one do you think is better, protecting freedom, or protecting a piece of fabric?

Are you kidding me? Do you really believe that the BRD (Bundesrepublik Deutschland) -also known as Germany- has the same constitution as Nazi-Germany?^^
Back to topic: Burning the flag is a part of free speech. And we must protect our freedom.

The problem with making the burning of the American flag illegal is that it could lead to other restrictions. If you take away one freedom, another group could very quickly follow up on another, more important freedom.
I'm not for burning American flags, but I do understand that people are unhappy with this country. I think there are many other ways to draw attention to a cause. Should you have a problem that you wish to address, there are alternatives to burning a symbolic object which can be interpreted in many different ways.
Big deal. It's just a piece of whatever the flag was made of. Why would you even consider what people do? Just focus on trying to make a better image for your country. Every time people burn a country's flag it's for reasons. I never saw the Swedish or Norway flag get burned.
If your flag is getting burned then that means that maybe your country should work on it's image.
The American Flag got burned because some Americans are stereotypical racist bigots who can't keep their mouth shut about other cultures. Now im not saying that some cultures don't have certain rituals that may seem to go against what we believe as a country, but we don't have to always Americanize everything we see.
