I saw yet another video of a group of protestors burning the American flag. The disgust me! Please tell me someone else out here agrees that it is wrong and should be illegal.

What's so unethical and/or disturbing about burning a piece of fabric?

It is the symbol of our country, and it should be respected.

As Johnny Cash put it: "I'm glad anyone has the freedom to burn a flag in America. I'm also glad we have the right to bear arms so that I can shoot them in case someone tries to burn mine."

It is representative of your country true, but your country itself means different things to different people, while you see something that should be respected - others may see an evil entity that has caused only harm and grief.

I don't see why protesters would burn their own countries flag or even some one elses that's kind of going a little to far..

Burning a country's flag can be offensive. It's a symbol representing us as a nation, but it can also be very symbolic. Protesters use this to get a point across, burning a flag is dangerous and risky. But if they're willing to take that risk, they must have something to say.

Sometimes, when protestors vehemently oppose the actions of the government, the only protest that will invoke a response is an outright denunciation of the oppressive government. It's free speech and that's all there is to it.
Also ironically, what happens to American flags if they are dropped on the ground? they get burned.

Just a interesting side fact, but the proper way to get rid of an old or warn American flag is to respectfully burn it.

Considering the wars and other aggressive actions America has taken in the Middle East, whether they be ongoing or past, it's no surprise that some people really don't like America - murdering innocent civilians or forcefully occupying a country aren't the best ways of makin' friends.

How is this freedom of speech, what does burning have to do with talking. Plus were I'm from, If you mention that you'll get beat up.

I think burning a flag is something unnecessary in protests and wrong. All it does is express hatred to other people, not governments, people. Because its offensive to all people who come from that country and not only their government.

Avorne, its understandfull that people in the middle east get angry at USA. It doesn't mater if its right or wrong when when you understand their view. But although you can say you easily see it coming, the development of hatred is never a good thing or something that should be excepted. Therefore burning flags should never be seen a wrong thing to do, no matter by who does it and on what circumstances.

Congratulations, you pretty much described the very point of burning country flags. Anger, hate, provocation. But why do they burn them anyway? Because they feel mistreated, attacked, by the country whose flag they're burning. It's an eye for an eye, though I will admit that flag/holy book burnings, as diatribes, are an effective way to stoke even more fear and hatred.

the development of hatred is never a good thing or something that should be excepted.

says the one that celebrates the death of an enemy leader?
