In these troubling times we see in the news that more and more people are losing their jobs. Hence, we see a rise in criminal activity. There was a news article that just recently caught my attention in the Wall Street Journal, âBusinesses Say Theft by Their Workers Is Up.â Here is the link to the article if you wish to see it, just copy and paste it in your search bar:
Stealing is bad irrespective of it being for survival or not. If you're down and out, have lost your job and have no means for taking care of your family you can always ask for help from the government or a family member. How can your conscience allow you to steal from a hard-working guy to provide for your family even if you're in dire need of it? It's a lowly act of desperation. It's like saying, I'm in need of money, I'm going hungry and have no means to survive so I'm going to rob a guy who does work hard to make ends meet. Everyone needs to work to survive, we just need to stop looking for short-cuts to get there.
Stealing for survival is A-OK if there is no other means of surviving. If you are say a street urchin in some 3rd world country that takes just enough to survive by stealing from market stalls then that's fine. However, if you're just some homeless dude who can't be bothered to go to the charity down the street and ask for food/clothes then it's not OK.
I said 3rd world country - many of which don't bother with the idea of minimum wage (or at least don't enforce it well). You'd be luckily to get a coupla dollars for a whole days work. Also, you have to think about why these people are living on the streets in the first place.

Misread you there. You're right about them not bothering about minimum wage. If the government steals from you, it doesn't SEEM so bad then to steal from an individual. I think I'm contradicting myself. But I still think it's immoral.
It's your choice. Well, if your in the wilderness and you need a food, and you see a sleeping bear holding an unopen big bag of chips. Would you get it?
