In these troubling times we see in the news that more and more people are losing their jobs. Hence, we see a rise in criminal activity. There was a news article that just recently caught my attention in the Wall Street Journal, âBusinesses Say Theft by Their Workers Is Up.â Here is the link to the article if you wish to see it, just copy and paste it in your search bar:
I wouldn't steal even if i would die i have too much pride and honor i would rather die! and do you consider stealing from trash cans stealing? Heck i could find lots of stuff in a local dumping area
If you're stealing things that you need to survive, food, clothing, etc. Then it is acceptable, although if you go into someones house and steal their laptop that is wrong. I also believe that you should not steal from the homes of others, as they could be in a similar situation as yours. If you have to resort to theft, steal from the big stores that are not going to lose too much.
Stealing for survival is ok imo. If you're stealing something to sell it in a pawnshop, then its wrong. If it's food, a drink (NOT ALCOHOL), or clothes I'll say it's ok.
Some drug dealers sell to feed their families, and that is terrible. They are killing their communities at what price and risk. Why not work and earn it like the rest of society. Stealing is a gateway crime. What next? Robbery, murder?
I think some of us is missing pieces of the whole picture. Sure there are food stamps, but these resources have a tendency to become depleted.
Food stamps and other charitable organizations are highly dependent on people that donate to their cause. Unfortunately, some people do not wish to donate because that would be considered as leaving their comfort zone.
Look at what is happening right now in this economy. People are getting laid off right and left. That means that there shall be even more people to compete for a job. Some of us say that getting a job is easy. In reality it is not. Right now with our economy the average person to job ratio is approximately 700 to 1.

Dealing drugs is not stealing. It is providing a service, albeit an illicit one.

Sounds like it's time for a war to start getting rid of all those unemployed people... oh, wait...
Anyways, meh, you can say that it's wrong and what not, but when you're put into that situation, I bet the "rightness" of what you're doing starts to matter less.
