Here, I'll even help you. Back when I was a junior and still in this god-forsaken church (ironic), they would come door-to-door on those that didn't register, again, another name for power recruiting. Of course, these didn't work, because most of them were either Atheist, or didn't really care. Again, it's not just Atheists, its also those of their religion that try and force people to join their family. If people really did care, they would either register themselves, or ask how to.

I always get so pissed when Mormons or Jehovah's Witnesses come to my door during dinner or something and then they WON'T LEAVE. I've never had someone come knocking on my door asking to provide "spiritual service," at any time other than during a meal. And then of course they try to convince me to join the church for 10 or more minutes.
I would say that's a lot worse than someone saying "I'm Atheist".

yes, we all know that Jehovah's witnesses are annoying (or most of us anyway.) But of course not everyone is a Jehovah's witness. I have acctually never had a Mormon knock on my door.

Well it is, but thats not the point of the thread. The point is that it's annoying when someone, off subject, feels the urge to tell you about their religious beliefs.
Once again it's not just about Atheists. That was just what happened to give me the idea for this thread.

Um, I didn't say you did(well kind of.) If you would have read just about anything else on this Thread you would understand. So don't just read the title. try this... 'Read what others wrote' Read this dude...
I find this thread very irritating. I would assume the original title was something like Don't you hate it when... so I'm glad it was changed for that reason. But here's something interesting, I can't go around telling people I'm an atheist. In fact, if the topic of conversation goes to religion, I often get very uncomfortable. If I end up telling people I'm an atheist, they often make fun of the the idea, or at the very least scoff at me in some way. But Christians get to talk about how much they love jesus and it's socially fine. I think that's why some people freaked out at the merry christmas thing - a lot of people are just sick of having what we consider to be the only rational beliefs mocked. It seems like there is this social stigma of the atheist that is brooding and dark and reads a lot of Nietzsche. It's pretty crappy being seen as that guy. But you know, the people who are telling you probably just want attention. But once you're past like 14, it's not cool anymore.
