I know that there is a topic about legalizing drugs, but I wanted to talk about Marijuana specifically.
Marijuana was banned in 1937 in the US and is now said to be a gate-way to more dangerous illegal drugs. However in this current state of economy I think we'd be better off with the legalization of marijuana. First, it would provide jobs for people. Second, more tax money to the government. Third, it would decrease sale to minors.
It already does. They're called drug dealers, seriously shady people.
first off not all drug dealers are shady people, dont be ignorant. secondly it would create literally thousands of jobs for americans.
Second, more tax money to the government.
Tax is the last thing we need to be increased. With our struggling economy the average American man giving even more money to the government so they can give it to those who don't even bother to work? Yeah, that's called socialism, look it up.
the person didnt mean to increase tax...they meant it would be another tax bracket for the government could collect on like tobacco or alcohol.
lastly, when alcohol became re-legalized after the ban was dropped, did everybody become alcohlics...no....no they did not.
Well just in prospective... Sheesha is legal haha... It has no affect but give u a great buzz like cigarettes... It includes some tobacco... Any person 14 and older can buy it, as well as go into a sheesha bar... Sheesha is a drug as well, and its perfectly legal.
Legalizing marijuana is just an excuse for people to have it, yeah sure it may only be aloud in certain amounts, but if you get a bunch of people together with that same amount you've got a big party going on. Since I've decided to enter world of law enforcement for my career choice I'd have to say this is a bad idea, plain and simple.

Any chance you'd explain your argument a bit better? Why the "but if you get a bunch of people together with that same amount you've got a big party going on" as an argument that it would be very bad to legalize it?
I think it would be okay to legalize it, since the reason most people use the stuff is the thrill of tasting the 'forbidden' fruit. Therefore you legalize it, you have less people using it... however since employers will not want 'otheads' for employees undoubtedly people will be let go, but if a person has a history of taking the drug the way they spend their welfare should be monitored to make sure they use it for welfare and not buy more drugs, hell plenty of people do that for cigarettes.
