Can we as Americans truly say, "Proud to be an American" after all the horrible things we've done?

Now, you could declare yourself an American anywhere (except the warring countries) and get some form of respect, ESPECIALLY Japan. They like us for some apparent reason. However, if you did this 8 years ago, you would get yourself laughed at. The status of a citizen really is based off their leader.

like some people have said there is nothing that america has done that has been extremly bad in the pasy century

i can say that i am proud to be an american

i am not ashamed about this country

Yes and no, we didnt support the Polish and we didnt help the French and we could of stopped Hitler in 1933 but we stopped a nuck war by neigotions so it evens out.
