Since I have joined Armorgams . . .I see a lot of Atheists and their threads about why people believe in God etc . . . I wanted to start a thread about the bible and christianity.
The purpose of this thread is to debate a different book of the bible each week. We will discuss lessons, morals, and different stories.
We will have friendly debates. Please . . . if you are atheist or of other beliefs . . . you may discuss in this thread, just PLEASE no fighting, flaming, spamming, trolling . . . etc
This week we will begin from the beginning . . . .Genesis
We shouldn't but that doesn't mean people don't. All I'm saying is that Christians make it seem like THEY never sin but EVERYBODY ELSE does. People make mistakes, this applies to Christians too. John wasn't a perfect "rophet".
People back then didn't smoke because they thought it was a sin, and its been proven through Bible text.
Can I have proof please where it said "Smoking weeds is unmoral and thee smoker must be stoned to death in the name of thy Lord." By the way, don't use the "treat your body like a Temple" one. I want more proof than that.
In Numbers 11:25 the cloud results in the Spirit resting upon Moses and the seventy elders. This passage indicates that they prophesied ecstatically. "Prophesy" is defined as follows: to utter or announce by or as if by divine inspiration; to speak for God or a deity; to give instruction in religious matters. Throughout the Holy Bible prophets of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. The smoking burning cloud of incense contained the spirit and was instrumental in bringing about the spiritual revelations of the prophets. In the ancient world marijuana was used to reveal the future. The virtues of marijuana include speech-giving and inspiration of mental powers.
I found this while reading your link. Check and mate.
But they are interpreting old old text through a modern way, words had different meanings back then and everything. There is no evidence in the Bible of prophets smoking anyways.
Believe it or not (you should, it's fact) we actually know the etymologies of a lot of the words in the Bible. There isn't as mu ch room for mistranslation as you're giving credit for. Like I said before, you don't really have any argument anymore. Your own source contradicted your main point.
