Since I have joined Armorgams . . .I see a lot of Atheists and their threads about why people believe in God etc . . . I wanted to start a thread about the bible and christianity.
The purpose of this thread is to debate a different book of the bible each week. We will discuss lessons, morals, and different stories.
We will have friendly debates. Please . . . if you are atheist or of other beliefs . . . you may discuss in this thread, just PLEASE no fighting, flaming, spamming, trolling . . . etc
This week we will begin from the beginning . . . .Genesis
I was never really a full-on Christian, I would only go to church on holidays, maybe never, I would never read the bible, you can see where I'm getting to. I changed to atheist a year ago because I started to believe in the theory of evolution, it just seemed more realistic to me.
There you go Fluffybunny. I was exactly the same way. I only went to church on Christmas and on Easter. I read the bible but the events in it and stories were just to far-fetched for me. I then began perusing the world of science and found a great majority of my questions answered.
But there are plenty of Christians that still believe in evolution. Everyone has their own opinions fluffybunny. Some Christians think that since God created everything, that God created monkeys that people evolved from.
Just curious Snazzy; if God created the chimps from which we evolved from why did he send his divine messages to us. Why not say bees or sharks? .Why Homosapiens?
I know some christians believe in the theory of evolution, so when I thought about weather I was christian or atheist I started thinking about what the beliefs of christians were and some of them I didn't believe in so... I became atheist.
I'm just having a hard time trying to comprehend that chimps and/or us just were "created" as you say. If there was proof, or a logical explanation, to how we were "created" I might believe or not believe in god depending what the explanation is.
God made His existence known through creation - so even if you don't read the Bible (which is how God shows Himself to mankind) - the world around us is testament to God's existence...
However, I agree with deserteagle... Let's get back on the topic. There's way too many distractions on this thread.
We discusssed Exodous, Creation, Revelations, and the matter of whether or not God exists in these some 57 pages. Is there any esle from the Bible which we can disscus with out going in circles?
