I wouldn't kill him. I'd rather knock him unconscious and make a citizen's arrest. Then, I'd hit him with a baton repeatedly until he is carried away.

Well, do to the fact he tried to cut my pets' legs off, I'd probably just beat him until he goes critical. Then call the police and hit the highway.
