A Haiku is a Japanese lyric verse form having three unrhymed lines of five, seven, and five syllables, traditionally invoking an aspect of nature or the seasons.

Well, that said, heres the rules:

1) The Haiku must be original (no plagarizing)!
2) It must fit the weeks theme
3) It must be submitted before the deadline
4) It must be submitted for the contest (no using works previously written)
5) One Submission per user
6) The Same User cannot win twice in a row (but there welcome to submit!)

Hopefully oneday the winner could get a merit...

The Deadline will always be a Wednsday, so the deadline for the first theme will be Wednsday, September 2. The theme is The Pond

Faith is giant overrated safety blanket, quite warm too.

Eyes closed, mind at peace
All perception is agony
Should have seen that piano

I think I'll title this "An ode to Zombieland"

Not sure if you're aware of this but a Haiku only has three lines.
5-7-5.

And his haiku had three lines, 5-7-5. "Lol random ending" was obviously a comment about his haiku, and not a part of it.

I'm not sure about yours though. Agony is a three syllable word, and piano is a three syllable word, putting your haiku at 5-8-7.

Try using this site next time.

I should have seen it,
Orion's judging,
Late again, as usual
I should have known. *sigh*

Bronze? I like bronze. \\o/

Gleaming arms afford
Mycenaean miasma.
Heroes slain forthwith.

That's based on my award, not an entry for this next one. Yay, Bronze Age and what poetry is supposed to have been set in it.

DoubleRainbowDude; when you go to claim your merit tell the mod to change theme to Mediums (Page 300, Due 3/20/11)
Also Congrats!

Mediums hmm? Psychics? Or like an artistic medium...gotta do research! -runs off into distance-

I'm going political with this one:

People yearn for them.
Their judgements become their own,
cradling their sheep.

cradling their sheep.

That's four syllables, Frank. Sorry.

That's weird. Howmanysyllables.com depicts it as 2, but Dictionary.com says it is three. It even provides the root word, cradle, as 2 syllables in itself! Can I be excused for ambiguity? :P
