He should. I mean, we really need it. Uselessnoob, I agree with you. The grammar in the posts on this site is an example to prove the point that we need to improve our education system. Because really? Is it that hard to use proper grammar?
Also, we need to somehow catch up to the other countries in education. Maybe making the school day longer is the first step towards that? I think having a half day on Saturday would be more beneficial, though. I already walk home as it's getting dark; I don't want to walk home in complete darkness. It would also be hard to finish homework and take classes outside of the regular school system. If we had a half day on Saturday, then we would still have time in the day to have fun and relax, and we would be learning things. Also, it would force us to get up earlier. Which, in my experience is good. I usually sleep to about 3:00 when I don't have school.
Anyhow, if he does make the school days longer, it wouldn't effect me. I'm a junior in HS and I will be out of school by the time this takes effect.
Well, the thing is, adding more time to the school day isn't going to do anyone any good. But at the same time, we have some of the lowest average scores in the world. What do we do about that? In my opinion, our kids in the U.S.A. are not being taught how to be self-aware, conscious human-beings. Most of them know absolutely nothing about the world they live in.
Our kids are influenced too early by the media, so they (subconsciously)get the idea that purposely TRYING to fail in school and be the "cool kid" is going to get them somewhere in life.
So when you get down to it, it's the parents that need to hunker down and teach these kids how to think before a whole world of stupid gets them first.
i dont thnik he has the ability to mkae a law... a bill will have to be passed and its more likely to be v-towed
Congress doesn't have the power to regulate education by passing a law. They can withhold funding until a school system accepts this idea, but that is the only way.
I dont like Obama (not because hes black). I dont care if he extends the school year or not. I still dont like him. I mean that nigga didnt change shit with all his CHANGE thing. CHANGE=Canya Help A Nigga Get Elected
this is so stupid and a non realistically situation, they might regulate how long the school day is and the days required, it is mandatory to attend school and is law, so gov. does control it, and maybe extend the school year, not the day, this idea is ridicules, don't get mad guys, this will not happen if ever for many many years. lets say it does get passed by some unbelievable miss hap it would not go into affect until where all out of school anyway.
I dont like Obama (not because hes black). I dont care if he extends the school year or not. I still dont like him. I mean that nigga didnt change **** with all his CHANGE thing. CHANGE=Canya Help A Nigga Get Elected
you state you don't like him because he's black, yet you describe him with such derogatory language implying you are racist thus your just an idiot and gtfo.
To be honest - Longer school days and mandatory uniforms would be a great step forward for American schools. Longer school days would mean more chance to cover topics in-depth and not just teaching the stuff needed to pass exams. Uniforms would even the playing field, make everybody the same and provide clothes suitable for being educated in.
First of all, if Obama is going to make school days longer, he should first conclude the time thats given to the kids have to do their homework, based on the grade they're on, and how much books should they use. Oh and link is broken(Actually, just a plain search site of Yahoo).
