The kid has a right to stand for the pledge or not and i think if he doesnt want to then just let him not. But i do agree that is not doing anything to help get gay rights.

Least you get it... And NoName, yes. I agree with you.
I stand for the pledge. What I get out of the pledge is different than what many other people get out of the pledge. To me, I am making a pledge to better my nation. I am not pledging to blindly follow it. To me, it is a way of respecting those who fought for this country.

Kind of what I was trying to get across, but not as deliberate as you. And @ Kirzaz or whatever you name is, Who the heck are you to judge how smart someone is? That was completely uncalled for.

Nations have changed for much less, I am sure. Even if I am incorrect, then why do you think he didn't accomplish anything? It got into the news, it got people talking. Who says it can't possibly get someone else active in politics that does end up making a change? You?

One, Name a Nation that has.
Two, It got people talking, Whoopdeedoo. We wre talking now. Is it making a change? I don't think so.
Three, I am not that selfish to think that I can force anyone to say anything.
Four, I CAN however say if you are late or not on a certain subject, Because I was in the conversation that you were commenting on. I have that right. And even if I was gay, I would still have that right. >.>

It is up for the school to decide what to do about the kid. I told a my history teacher that I didn't believe the pledge was 'right', and He said "You have that right to disagree, but if you are going to be a citizen here, you should." I agree with him. If i am going to be apart of this nation, I will proudly be a part of this nation.

The kid is smart yes. He realizes more than most. The fact that gays and lesbians can't adopt or get married in certain areas is awful, And while they are spreading the word about it, I support the kid. What he did in my eyes was right, but he probably SHOULD be watching spongebob. I am thankful that I had the childhood I did. I enjoyed it. Technically, I am still a kid, and I do enjoy my Spongebob, but I fully accept any responisbility that comes with becoming an adult. The kids got courage to do what he is doing at his age, but whats wrong with just enjoying being a kid? If the world is coming down to a childs opinion, what has happened?

Well, I will point out this. The original comment that I quoted and talked about was posted on April 26, 2010. I posted my comment ONE DAY later on April 27, 2010. I don't think a 24 hour difference is really getting into a conversation "too late", since many people aren't just on here every day.

It got people talking, Whoopdeedoo. We wre talking now. Is it making a change? I don't think so.

Of course you don't, because you are kind of a moron and ignoramus. Saying that this guy is wasting his time or not making a difference is kind of silly. It's getting people talking, and not just Armor Games forums. People all over could hear about this. Is it really hard to believe that maybe someone who heard about this situation started thinking about the whole gay rights situation, and eventually ends up doing something?

If the world is coming down to a childs opinion, what has happened?

So are we talking about the 10 year old's opinion, or yours?
I find it funny you belittle his significance because of his age, when you talk like a child yourself.

I remember when my high school made it a rule that anyone who was still in the hallway when the pledge of allegiance started must stop, stand, and say the pledge.

They still do that at my elementary school.
They really just made a cult out of the kids, who really don't care at all about the pledge.

Now to all the students, its just standard procedure. Everyone stand up if they punished or not, and whether they care about the pledge itself or not.

I didn't stand for an entire school year, the next year a teacher told me I had too. He thought I was insulting the country or some nonsense like that. So I just stood for the one semester class then stopped again.

I myself didn't stand a lot of the time. I just figured that since I'd pledged my allegiance so many times, there was simply no point to it. Once is quite good enough for me.

I wasn't doing it to be rebellious, I wasn't standing because there is no point.

I want to bump this. Let's discuss more about how the pledge of allegiance is hypocritical in the face of gay rights, etc...

If your talking about the military your misinformed, Americans have no right to serve in the military.

Nobody is saying PE is useless, it just isn't nearly as useful to force high schoolers to take PE than grade schoolers.

First of all, lol :P

but no I was referring to the article this post was started on. A child refused to stand and recite the pledge of allegiance because he believed it to be hypocritical, since there is not "liberty and justice for all" in the U.S. today.
