That kid is a little prick. He really should be thankful he lives in America. Far better than living in Belgium and being a sex slave. Or in a third world country. If it was up to me, I would send him to a country where liberty and justice were never even considered.

I am glad he wants to try to improve this great country. Fixing the flaws and hypocrisy is a great direction to go in.

Blind patriotism in the face of great evils is very detrimental to the progress of a nation.

I don't think it's unappreciative to want to have justice and equality for everyone. I think that's... patriotic. Very appreciative of his freedom of speech and he wants to make the country a better place.

Let's be honest here. No matter what he did, it didn't really matter in the long run. It is unappreciative. The USA is one of the best countries in the world for justice and equality.

I wouldn't really say we're that great for equality either. You're also talking about a country which has "God" written on it's currency and stated in it's pledge. Not everyone has that belief, I don't think it's quite fair I have to say our country is under God everyday of my life. Is that equal?

Sure it's one of the best, but it could be better, that's his point. Just because he won't directly, and immediately change the world doesn't mean he did nothing.

Plus, if you say that, who cares if you feel it's "unappreciative"... No matter what he did, in the long run it doesn't matter. So being unappreciative doesn't matter.

Although I just think you are being somewhat stubborn and ignorant in the matter. Why couldn't the act of getting people talking start anything that would lead to a change?

So what about all the racism, corruption, and crimes? All of which often go unpunished and hidden from the public.

Wow this is old, but I must point out possum, what good is a country if it never strives to be better?

@moe, USA is a lot better in equality than slot of other countries.... I'll admit we have a ton of room for improvement thought.

At least one of you does.
Ah'm an americaan and ah live in the purfect country!

Not no offense intended. As for the 10-year old that refuses to stand for The Pledge Of Allegiance, so what! It's not like he killed someone and you can be a patriot even if you don't stand for a pledge of allegiance.

It's called a pledge. You shouldn't have to do it every single day. You do it because you mean it, then if you feel like it needs to be done again, then so be it. Refusing to do the pledge is a bit iffy, but it's a kid who doesn't understand the concepts of life compared to an adult. Just leave it, really.

No it's not? Often times I refuse to say it and I dare anyone at my school to force me to do it. It's my right to not say it if I don't agree with it.

Why should anybody force a 10-year old to half-heartedly say the Pledge of Allegiance?

What the point? After a while of doing the same thing it looses it's meaning. Also no one could force you to say it if you don't want to. If I would be forced to do something I don't believe in everyday just because I'm expected to do it, then I would do the same thing the kid did.
