my favorite metal band is a progressive metal band named dream theater. greatest drummer of all time, amazing vocalist, one of the greatest guitarists and bassists. whats not to like??
either of those band are hard enough to be called metal :P the real deal is any kind of gore metal or doom/death metal.. more blood, more satanic and more sacrifice
The level of ignorance in this thread about heavy metal is astounding and offensive. Nu metal is a misnomer, Slipknot and Disturbed are not metal in the least. Hatebreed is NOT death metal in the SLIGHTEST. Rammstein isn't much of a metal band either.
With that being said, the best metal band (and my favorite) is doubtlessly Iron Maiden. Like someone already said, they have never sold out and never will.
Definitely Iron Maiden. That band is a classic with awesome guitarists and powerful drum beats. Unanimously, one of the best bands still around.
The only Metallica that is considered Metal is some of the older albums like Master Of Puppets or Kill 'Em All for example, but the band itself is considered hard rock now.
